The Hawaiian Navy has a long and colorful history, dating back to the early 1800s. At that time, the islands were part of Spanish America and the navy was one of the first branches of government in those regions. In 1819, Commodore John Marshall led an expedition against Kamehameha I at Ulithi Inlet. The navy recaptured him and his forces after a three-month siege. This event is considered to be the beginning of Hawaiian naval power. During World War II, Hawaii was one of eight U.S. possessions in the Pacific theater. The navy played an important role during that conflict, serving as both defender and attacker. In 1945, however, Japan surrendering caused widespread chaos throughout Asia and many warships were destroyed or scrapped;Hawaii's only hope for service during the war lay with its military allies in Australia and United States (the atomic bombing campaign). After World War II ended, Hawaii prepared for independence but did not achieve it until 1959 when Hawaii became a state within the United States mainland via July 1st deadline set by Congress pursuant to Article IV of their Joint Constitution which granted citizenship to all citizens living on or under US soil regardless of race or color* (*This article discusses white people specifically.) Since then, there have been several iterations in how Hawai'ian servicemen serve their country including active duty Naval Reserve sailors as well as full-time reserves who are called up for service on short notice (e.g., 9/11/2001) There has also been a recent trend towards using more locally sourced goods in both uniforms and civilian attire as seen with Military Sealift Command's purchase of 375 Kawasaki Ki-52 helicopter engines being manufactured locally from farmers here on Oʻahu *All images courtesy Departmentof Defense website

The first European to visit Hawaii was Captain James Cook on December 12th 1779 during his third attempt to find a way to Asia by sailing around the Hawaiian Islands. Cook named what are now Kaua'i and Niʻihau after his ship's officer mates who helped him establish himself on these islands as part of his exploration: John Young (Kahuna) for Kaua'i; Abel Tasman (Apo) for Niʻihau. In 1839 Captain David Dixon arrived at Kaho’olawe Island and named it Diamond Head because it was then thought that only very rich white men could possessed such valuable land in Hawai'i. However he found no gold or other minerals there but did find coral reefs worth exploring further which led him to name Haleakala National Park after him in 1888! I n 1959 when Hawai‘i became an American state, Governor Daniel Akaka offered to move the capital from Honolulu to Pearl Harbor so that Washington Dc could not claim exclusive jurisdiction over Oahu due to its oceanic location! On March 11th 1959 Mayor Edward Condon announced plans for Pearl Harbor Day - a national holiday celebrating U S military defense against Japanese attack-andrews proclamation established October 14th 1898 designating Pearl Harbor as a historic site reserved for Americans only! This event marked Hawai‘ian descent into America with president Harry S Truman making history by becoming first U S President to set foot on Hawaiian soil! After World War II finished, many servicemen from Oahu returned home including Admiral Chester Nimitz who served as Commander-in-Chief Pacific Fleet during WWII and later became Chairman Joint Chiefs Of Staff under JFK In 1965 Queen Elizabeth II visited Hawaii on her trip through Asia before travelling onwards to Australia where she met King George VI at AUS Capital City Sydney In 1978 when Imelda Marcos came into power in Philippines she decided she wanted her own personal army so moved forces from Clark Air Force Base Philippines back here! This gave us Operation Neptune's Spear which saw uprisings all across Mindanao against Ferdinand Marcos dictatorship! After years of peaceful protests Filipino troops were called back home while Imelda stayed behind where she started another coup d'etat
