The Constitution served in the First Barbary War and the War of 1812. On July 4, 1814, she fought off a small Mexican fleet while under tow from New Orleans to Cuba. She was decommissioned on November 2, 1821 and sold for salvage on December 16, 1821.
In 1943, Woodstock was a small town in Georgia. It was located in the Appalachian Mountains, and it had a population of around 100 people. In that year, the United States military invaded Sicily and bombed the town of Catania. As a result of this attack, many residents fled to Woodstock. The town was renamed after General George Custer and his cavalry unit, the Seventh U.S. Cavalry Regiment. The community grew slowly over the next few years. In 1945, it had about 150 people living in it and it used to produce wood chips for fertilizer purposes. However, due to World War II efforts, production at the mill stopped completely in 1947. However, Woodstock continued to exist as an economy based on agriculture until 1974 when it lost its status as a census-designated place (CDP). That year, the subdivision of West Georgia annexed into Atlanta and its citizens were forced to move out of their homes or face forcible relocation by Atlanta officials.
In 1830, General Nathaniel Banks of the Union army invaded Georgia and attacked the Cherokee nation. The Cherokees fought back, driving the Union army deeper into their territory. In 1831, a treaty was signed between the United States and the Cherokee Nation ceding all of Cherokee land in present-day Georgia to the United States. The Treaty of Peace and Friendship was alsosigned at this time.
