The United States Navy deployed USS Woodstock (LHD-5) in support of Operation Neptune's Spear, during the Vietnam War. The ship was launched on December 2, 1967, and arrived at Haiphong on December 5. She served as a transport for troops and supplies until her deployment to the Gulf of Tonkin on May 3, 1968. On that day she came within gunshot range of North Vietnamese forces operating near the DMZ. USS Woodstock then transported Marines and equipment back to Haiphong before returning home on July 21.
Woodstock, Georgia is a small town in Fulton County, Georgia. The population was 1,383 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta-based Metro area. Woodstock was founded in 1892 by Miles Standish and his wife Lucy as a summercottage for white laborers who worked on the nearby railroad tracks. In 1907, Woodstock became an incorporated town with a mayor and five trustees. The first school was built in 1912 and it served grades one through twelve until 1951 when it burned down. In 1955, the first high school opened in Woodstock and served grades eleven through twelve until 1978 when it closed due to budget cuts. The community has undergone many changes over the years; some of which include becoming an agricultural center with production of corn, soybeans, cotton, hay, and other vegetables; developing into a resort town focused on music festivals; undergoing rapid growth during the late 1980s and early 1990s as result of its location near Interstate 85; experiencing a resurgence after being designated as a historic district in 2007; and experiencing significant redevelopment following plans filed by developers to establish an urban renewal project adjacent to Woodstock's original downtown core. Today, Woodstock remains a vibrant community that attracts people from all over metro Atlanta for its annual music festivals including Lollapalooza (the largest festival inAtlanta),Constellation Festival (a top music festival held annually at Time Warner Center), Dragon*Con (an Asian American only event), SIMA (the biggest trade show series within the Atlanta metropolitan area) and more.

Woodstock was a small town in south Georgia, United States, located about seventy miles (113 km) southwest of Atlanta. In 1978, Woodstock lost its status as a township and reverted to its original name as a census-designated place (CDP). As of the 2010 census,[1] Woodstock had a population of 705[2] and is also known for its annual Bluegrass music festival which takes place in late spring or early summer
