In the early 1900s, Woodstock was a small farming community located in east Georgia. coffee beans were expensive and not as common as they are today, so most of the residents drank blackstrap molasses or brewed their own coffee. One of the first coffee roasters in town was J.F. Smith & Sons, which still operates in Woodstock today. One of the earliest cafes in town was The Gourmand, which opened in 1905. The cafe served french press coffee and had a variety of sandwiches and pastries includingUMC's famous buttermilk pancakes. In 1916, Mr. Coffee opened his first store on West Broad Street in Woodstock and soon became one of the leading java merchants in town. In 1922, two brothers founded The Coffee Mill on North Main Street near what is now Food Lion grocery stores with the goal of bringing quality gourmet coffee to southeastern Georgia from rural areas. Today, The Coffee Mill continues to serve up delicious cupcakes, muffins and other goods that manage to stand out from all the other shops around town!

Woodstock is a small town in Clarke County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The first permanent white settler in Woodstock was John Wesley Powell, who arrived in 1824 and built a cabin on the edge of town. A few years later a group of Mormons from Nauvoo, Illinois set up shop here as well. By 1830 there were over 100 residents living in Woodstock. In 1831 an Act of Congress made Clarke County an official county and gave it to Woodstock. The name "Woodstock" originated with General James Kenedy's use of the appellation for his new post on the Chattahoochee River near Romexico Creek (now part of Dayton), Tennessee: " woodstocks near Romexico". As early as 1800–1801 white settlers had been driving off game with hoes and other hand tools while Indian hunters relied on firearms; some 10 miles to the south-west, at what is now Milledgeville, whites had killed 600 buffaloes during 1799–1800 alone! By 1821 there were enough farmers along the river for a Stagecoach stop to be made at Romexico each day; by 1830s two mail coaches carried passengers between Athens (onthe main road east) and Romexico Junction (two miles west). Although wagon trade became more important after railroads came through central Georgia during the 1840s and 1850s – cars filled with goods like flour reached Atlanta by way of Savannah late in 1850 – woodstocks continued to serve as village center until after World War II when it became an area largely populated by people from surrounding counties
