The United States Army has been present in Woodstock, Georgia since the 1800s. The first troops were stationed here in 1802 during the War of 1812. In 1898, General William T. Sherman's Union army invaded Georgia and burned down many homes and businesses in what is now known as the " Atlanta Fire." This event helped start the war between the United States and Russia that would last for three years. In 1915, World War I began and the USArmy was called to active duty in Georgia. They served until 1919 when they left to return home to peacetime service. During World War II, Woodstock was one of several locations where American troops served in Europe. After the war, most of the soldiers from Georgia returned home but a few stayed to help rebuild post-war America. One such soldier was Major General James Hartsfield who commanded American forces during Operation Market Garden which resulted in Nazi Germany losing key European territories including Belgium and Holland. Today, there are still active US Armies stationed in Georgia – this time within our National Guard! The military has played an important role throughout history here at Woodstock and we're grateful for their presence today!
When considering what to give an Army regiment or unit, there are many options. A gift of military gear, medals, or a commendation can go a long way in showing your support. Additionally, if you have the time and resources, you can also create a custom army gift for your friend or family member. Here are three ideas forArmy gifts that will make them very happy: 1) Customized Army Gifts A great way to show your support for the Army is by creating a customized army gift. This could include anything from military gear to medals and commendations. If you have the time and resources, it’s also possible to create a unique and personalized gift for each member of the unit. 2) Birthday Gifts Another great option is to celebrate an anniversary with an army birthday gift. This could be something as simple as a new implement of warfare, like a rifle or grenade launcher, or something more luxurious like a new vehicle or instrument of war. Just be sure that you take into account the needs and wants of your loved one!3) Military Appreciation Day This is another great option when thinking aboutArmy gifts. On Military Appreciation Day (usually July 4th), all members of the regiment/unit receive freebies such as clothes, food items, ammo etc., just because they had contributed their time and effort over the previous day! This is an excellent opportunity to show some love and appreciation for all that our troops do!

In the summer of 1969, Woodstock was a small town in upstate New York that was on the edge of a rural area that was home to some of the most important musical events of the decade. The town had been called "The Festival Circuit" because it played host to more than 25 music festivals throughout the year. On July 15, 1969, about 100,000 people were expected to attend what would become one of rock and roll's biggestivals. The event started out as a small gathering of friends and family at an owned farmhouse on Route 22 near where present-day Woodstock is located. Over time, organizers grew increasingly confident in their plans for this unique event and decided to move it from July to August in order better accommodate for traffic congestion caused by festival goers. On Friday night, July 18th 1969, just days before the main concert began, police officers staged a major protest against state Governor Nelson Rockefeller's plan to allowCheckerhead etchings - which were considered obscene - on public property near the event site. This significant protest led to several arrests and helped turn public opinion against banning weapons at such an important cultural event. The next day saw another large turnout with around 120,000 people estimated to have participated in either music performances or open air camping along Cline Creek outside of town limits. There was no security presence other than volunteers who patrolled areas close tothe stage and around the grounds where artists set up Their tents overnight while they waited for their turn on stage during pre-concert hours on Saturday morning. By early afternoon Saturday all but two acts had finished their sets and there were only about 10 minutes left until headliner The Beatles would take the stage for their final performance (and first live appearance in America). Unfortunately dueto technical difficulties with amplification equipment onstage as well as crowd noise levels above expectations both The Beatles and local band Buffalo Tomahawk could not continue playing after about 20 minutes each due largely to weariness from long sets coupled with energy expended from heated stages across town which made walking between them difficult even under coveralls. For what felt like an eternity audience members sat watching various acts perform snippets from previous songs before finally being able'to get back into line behind any bands once again leading into Sunday morning when only four acts remained: David Bowie (performing his first American show), Yes (performing classic rock covers including "Hey Jude"), AOR Bandleader Bobby Vinton (banding together with other local groups including John Mayall's Bluesbreakers) and local promoter Don Kirshner announced that "It Had To Be Woodstock." Although there had been some fighting among protesters during earlier versions OFthe festival there seemed now more willingness among many participants justto enjoy themselves without worry over potential consequences later down the road
