Their focus on care for their environment has also been impressive, as they have created an environmentally friendly lifestyle that allows them to maintain their traditional way of life while also protecting their environment. The Villa Rica community was founded in the early 1800s by Spanish colonists who were looking for an opportunity to start anew after centuries of being stationed in Georgia. The settlers came up with the idea of creating a village where they could live together under one roof, free from fear of Native Americans or other invaders. They named their new village Villa Rica after King Carlos III of Spain, who had granted them independence from Spanish rule. After many years of development, Villa Rica became a thriving community with several businesses and homes. In 1876, the first school was opened in Villa Rica, serving as a model for later schools throughout Georgia. The community continued to grow during World War II when many soldiers moved into Villa Rica because it was safe from enemy airstrikes. After the war ended, many new residents moving into Villagra took advantageof its plentiful farmland and started raising livestock so that they could sell milk and eggs door-to-door across Georgia!
