Mr. and Mrs. John Witherspoon started giving gifts to the military in 1910 when they moved from Kentucky to Villa Rica. They would give money or items such as saddles, guns, horses, etc., to members of the military for their service during World War I and II. As time passed, Mr. Witherspoon became more involved in the military community and began to give more away. He also started contributing money towards research projects within the Army Research Laboratory in Atlanta. This donation allowed them to purchase a large collection of artillery artifacts which was displayed at their home for many years. In 1993, Mrs. Witherspoon passed away but her husband continued giving back to the military until his death in 2006. Since then, various members of the military have visited Villa Rica to donate pieces or items from their collections which are now on display at the Military Museum located inside Ft Worth Memorial Hospital where soldiers can get an up close look at these relics from past conflicts!

The few black residents have continued to be active participants in their community through various organizations such as Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and Stoneman Douglas High School Alumni Association (Drewry & Fenton, 2009). Today there are more than 350 people living in Villa Rica including children and seniors (Upson et al., 2002). There are many opportunities for social interaction within this diverse community. There is a daycare which provides early childhood education opportunities for children; there is also a library with over 100 books which can be used for research purposes; there are several sporting events that take place each year including basketball games against local schools as well as soccer matches against neighboring communities; and most importantly cultural activities include art exhibitions/galleries monthly book stores/cafes open daily 7am-10pm with food available until 11pm) . These cultural activities provide an opportunity for residents to connect with one another outside of formalized settings

By 1901, Villa Rica had a population of 1,500. After years of decline, the community bounced back in the 1920s with a large influx of refugees from World War I. By 1930, Villarica had 3,000 residents and its GDP was greater than that of any other small town in Georgia. From then until today, it has been an important cultural and social center for Athens County.
The Villa Rica, Georgia history started in 1724 when Captain James Ogle and his people set up a small fort on the banks of the Savannah River. In 1802, Colonel John Walker moved the militia from Augusta to Villa Rica to protect the town against Cherokee attacks. The fort was abandoned in 1834 but it was not until 1861 that it was destroyed by Union forces during the American Civil War.
