Tactical coffee came to Vidalia, Georgia in the early 1990s when friends of one of its founders, Dan Tillery, started selling cups of coffee from a small storefront on Schlosser Street. With the help of a local distributor and some creative marketing, Tillery’s startup quickly became an influential force in the region. Today, Tactical Coffee has more than 12 locations throughout Georgia and Alabama, as well as online sales. The origins of tactical coffee can be traced back to 1992 when friends Dan Tillery and Tim Denton met while working at Jamba Juice in Athens. After tasting Dan's first cup of pre-packaged espresso beans, Tim was inspired to start his own café business. Together they developed a system for packaged espresso that quickly gained popularity among cafe goers in Athens and surrounding suburbs. By 1994 their SYSTEM brand had been sold to Jamba Juice for $150K USD and the two men launched their first store - SYSTEM Atlanta - under their new name. In 1997Dan Tillery moved his family to Vidalia after stints living in Chattanooga (Tennessee) and Knoxville ( Tennessee). Here he founded Tactical Coffee with his wife Stacey; together they operated the store until 2001 when they relocated again – this time permanently to Vidalia thanks largely toDan's connections within the military community hereabouts (he served as commanding officer at Wright Air Force Base during much of this time). In 2007Tillery retired from duty with the USAF but continued to operate Tactical Coffee side-by-side with wife Stacey until her death in 2013 – leaving him sole proprietor/managing director today. Today Tactical Coffee is one of Georgia's leading retailers with over 12 stores across four states – all located in metro Atlanta area including sizeable presence in Midtown Atlanta & Ponce City Mall! Vidalia is a town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 9,996 at the 2010 census. Vidalia is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. It is home to the Vidalia Military Academy and Vidalia High School. The town also contains a small shopping center and several churches. The first settlers in Vidalia were French colonists who arrived in 1763. They named their community after Jean-Baptiste de Vidalie, governor of Acadia (present-day Quebec). In 1802, George Washington purchased land here for $5,000 and founded what became known asWashington University. In 1805, Captain John Smith discovered Peachtree River on the east side of town and named it for General James Oglethorpe, then commander of Georgia's militia forces during the American Revolution. That year also saw the founding of First Baptist Church invidalia with Revs Samuel Hallett and Asahel Greene officiating as pastors. In 1827–28 Edwin Booth moved from Savannah to establish what would become one of America's most famous stage productions - "Hamlet". He leased property near present day HWY 20/I-85 between Vidalia Street and Depot Road from Jens Munkenheimer who later donated land for an academy which was eventually renamed Vidalia Military Academy (VMA). In 1830–31 VMA served as a training ground for Ulysses S Grant when he served as Major General US Army during the Mexican–American War; he later attended VMA as an undergraduate student. The post office opened in 1840, but operations were suspended due to lack of personnel until 1865 when they were reactivated by Colonel Aiken Wortham with mail delivery from May 6 through October 1st only due to rebel activity within Confederate lines at that time! A new Post Office building was completed in 1870 which lasted until 1971 when it burned down; it was replaced by a library/community center complex that still stands today on Second Avenue NE between Park Avenue NE and Ponce de Leon Avenue NE cornering Veterans Parkway NE currently under construction! In 1907 Gussie Cobb established Cobb’s Blanchard Refrigerated Stores here today continuing family tradition started over 100 years ago! Today there are more than 3000 stores throughout North America operated by Gussie Cobb Incorporated including 30+ located in Florida!!!
