The United States Air Force deployed a gift to Vidalia, Georgia in 1998. The gift was the F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jet. The plane arrived in the town on November 1, 1998 and served as the squadron's primary aircraft for many years.

In 1961, the brigade deployment included donated air defense missiles from United States Aircraft Corporation and this was followed by another donation in 1966. In 1969, the brigade also sent troops to Vietnam as part of Operation Market Garden. In 1990, the brigade deployed as part of NATO's Allied Forces in Croatia for Operations Joint Endeavor and Southern Sarajevo. In 1999, the brigade flew into Tripoli Airport forOperation Odyssey Justice after September 11th attacks in America. This year's deployment includes donated Humvees and tanks from Raytheon Company which is one of many corporate donations made by members of the military throughout its history.
Vidalia, Georgia is a small town located in the Southeast corner of Georgia. The population was 3,711 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area and has been described as a "Rusty Gold" city because its mining history dates back to the early 1800s. Vidalia's nickname comes from its location on a tributary of the Chattahoochee River which makes it easy to get water for crops and livestock. The city also developed into a manufacturing center during the late 1800s, with cotton mills and other businesses becoming dominant. Today, Vidalia's economy relies largely on agriculture, tourism, and retail trade.

Vidalia was founded in 1802 by Captain John Vidalia and his wife, Martha. The town was named after General James Wilkinson who fought in the War of 1812. The first courthouse in Vidalia was built in 1814. In 1830, a school was built and the first bank opened. In 1840, a post office was established and the first Methodist church was erected. By 1865, business had grown so much that a second courthouse and town square were built. The community experienced significant growth during the cotton boom of the late 1800s and early 1900s. A large number of businesses were opened including banks, stores, churches, hotels, physician's clinics and a total of 15 schools were operated throughout Vidalia at this time. During World War I, Vidalia played an important role as a munitions plant for Atlanta area companies manufacturing artillery ammunition for war effort. After the war ended in 1918, many businesses closed but new ones began to form as people returned to their homes from wartime service or took positions within newly formed corporations. In 1925, Vidalia became an incorporated city under state law with its own government headed by mayor and council members instead of a single mayoral seat with voting rights granted to certain citizens only- those owning more than $5 per month in real estate value or conducting transactions worth more than $5 inside the city limits at any given time! A new high school (later renamed Sidney School)was constructed on Commerce Street between Third Street and Fourth Street in 1926; it remains one of Georgia's most famous educational institutions today! In 1930–1931 Mayor Harry Hodge initiated plans to relocatevidalian's central water system from two wells on Commerce Avenue to two large reservoirs located near what is now Davis Square Shopping Center; construction began that year and finished three years later! The big event which truly markedthe beginningofthe20thcentury occurred on November 14th 1931 when President Herbert Hoover signed legislation creating Atlantahomes Corporation which would provide housing for blue-collar workers displaced by automation brought about by World War II!!!
