The Valdosta Coffee Company was founded in 1907 by S.W. Hargrave and W.H. Dunlap, two of the early pioneers of Valdosta County coffee production. The company became one of the largest and most successful in the area, growing its business to include marketing, processing, retail sales, and distribution throughout Georgia and beyond. In 1951, Valdosta Coffee Corporation merged with three other small companies to form a larger organization known as The Atlanta Coffee Company (TACO). In 1984 TACO merged with another large coffee company, Peet's Coffee USA Inc., forming what is today known as Peet's Coffee & Tea LLC. Today Valdosta Coffee continues to be a major player in the Georgia coffee industry with operations both inside and outside of the state boundaries.

In 1902, AC merged with French Broad Coffee Incorporated (FBCI) to form Roquefort France SASRoquefort SA is one of several European companies which own and operate cafeterias throughout North America under three different names: Nestlé Purina Chocolates AG (Nestle), Cadbury Schweppes AG (Cadbury), Mars Incorporated (MARS).

In 1802, John James Audubon visited Valdosta while on his way to visit some of Savannah's Native American allies, including Oconee chiefs John Stennis and Muscogee Chief Tecumseh Sherman. At that time, Valdosta was a small village with around 100 residents; it had grown rapidly since then as a result of its strategic location between two major railroads – the Atlanta & Savannah Railway (now CSX) near downtown and the Mobile Railroad near Fort Jester – as well as its agricultural potential. In 1825, General Andrew Jackson occupied Augusta during his campaign against Jacksonian Democrat Aaron Burr. Burr fled to nearby Wilmington before being captured, but Jackson ordered General Robert Ewell to pursue him there instead and block roads leading into Augusta from outside the town limits so Burr couldn't escape. When news arrived at Valdosta thatJackson had won reelection, local farmers decided they would best celebrate by hosting a Fourth of July picnic using their land holdings along US 301W south of town; this event became known as "The Battle at 300." In 1836, when Alabama gained statehood, part of what was then Fulton County became Troup County; Valdostans were transferred to Troup County when it formed part of Alabama. In 1865, Confederate Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Boone arrested Unionist Major Elijah White about midnight on December 11th in connection with a failed attempt by Union forces to march through Vandalia onto Dalton Plantation late that evening (the plant belonged to Major White's father-in-law).White surrendered immediately upon learning he would be held captive rather than face execution like many other Confederates who had surrendered earlier that day–a decision which saved his life but cost Boone his own life because he knew too much about Union operations in central Georgia As soon as Confederate forces learned about this development they began preparations for an all out assault on Dalton Plantation which ultimately failed due to lack of food or ammunition; White escaped captivity unharmed four days later after arranging passage on a slave ship headed for Florida On January 3rd 1865 President Abraham Lincoln issued Executive Order No.–269 calling for all Confederate prisoners remaining in America to be transported back home without distinction except those who could afford freedom A large convoy consisting mainlyof slaves numbering several thousand men finally left Dahlonega New York Harbor on February 2nd 1865 under escort from USS Constitution USS Monitor USS Ponce CSS Sumter USS Hyde Park CSS Bonneville SS Arabi

However, it continued to be used for agricultural purposes until World War II When Valdosta was bombed by Japanese bombers in 1940, it became one of the few towns in Georgia hit directly.
