The first gourmet coffee shop opened in Sugar Hill in 1948 as The Gouda House on West Main Street. It was run by Harry Sloan’s son-in-law Tom Sachs who also ran The White Horse Tavern on University Avenue across the street from it. Tom Sachs began selling gourmet Coffee at his place while he studied at Mercer University; eventually he became president of Sachs Coffee Roasters Ltd., which still operates as a single store chain today with stores throughout Georgia and Alabama. In 1951, Harlan Ellison opened Ellison’s Diner on East Main Street near modern day Donelson Mall – this was the first Starbucks location open to the public! Ellison's Cafeteria also served up unique breakfast dishes such as bacon wrapped dates or chicken fried riceserved with home made scrambled eggs or grits on top! In 1957, Bob Fulton opened Fulton's Bakery & Cafe – this cafe would become known for its creative bread baking methods including air tight jars filled with dough that are then baked until golden brown! Fulton also served up delicious cupcakes which could be ordered freshly baked or prepped for service! From 1959 to 1969 there was only one other restaurant operating within walking distance of most residents called Waffle House; however after that year they closed down due to lack of patronage! All but two of these restaurants reopened within a few months after closing -HBG Steakhouse moved into Waffle House space vacated by JCPenney when they moved out of downtown Atlanta! Hbg Restaurants continued providing quality food until 1993 when they closed down again!! In 2013 HBG reopened under new ownership as GA Soul Food Group LLC.. Today HBG is considered an iconic Savannah restaurant & offers unique breakfast items like smoked scorpion pancakes&jalapeno sausage gravy on waffles!!!

Sugar Hill is a small town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 753 at the 2010 census. Sugar Hill is located on the north side of Chattahoochee River. It is bordered to the east by New Hope and to the west by Decatur. The first settlers in Sugar Hill were James and Martha Wilkinson who founded a cabin in 1805. They were followed by Nathaniel Cook and his family who began growing cane in 1810. The first school was built in 1812 and taught children from one room over the public square which still stands today as part of the courthouse complex. In 1827, John Witherspoon settled on a farm that he named "Sugar Hill". He raised sugarcane until his death in 1830. His son-in-law, Elijah Woodruff, continued to operate plantation until 1865 when it was taken over by Edward Covington Jr., an American soldier who became Governor of Georgia after the Civil War ended. After Reconstruction ended, Covington sold most of his land to white farmers and adopted the name "Covington" for himself only. In 1886, William Randolph Hearst bought 141 acres (60ha) of sugarcane land near present day Sugar Hill from Elijah Woodruff's widow for $1 million dollars (). The earliest houses in Sugar Hill were log cabins built by slaves who worked on the plantations until they were free around 1849. By then, white farmers had begun arriving in significant numbers and began using sugar as a source of revenue for themselves rather than returning slave labor to their plantations. In addition, white women began working on plantations as domestic servants; this led to increased social mixing among these new Africans Americanized Europeans (AME) colonists who immigrated during antebellum times: many AME families settled down near Savannah after expanding into western Georgia during the 1800s buying land along Warrior Creek floodplain

The town was named for General James Hogg, who fought in the American Revolution. The first school was built in 1821. A post office was added in 1829. In 1840, the town had a population of around 100 people and it started to grow more rapidly. By 1850, Sugar Hill had a population of over 1,500 people. It became an important commercial center due to its proximity to Savannah and its rich resources. The town experienced rapid growth until the mid-20th century when it slowly declined due to factors such as being isolated from other parts of Georgia, economic decline, and natural disasters such as hurricanes.
