There is no doubt that small batch coffee has been a staple in the Statesboro community for many years. From the early days of roasting, to the present day, small batches have been an important part of our history and taste. The first coffee was roasted on October 12, 1881, by George Dixon and Sons at their current location on Broad Street in Statesboro. The beans were sourced from throughout the county and were ground into a fine powder. At that time, there were only two grocery stores in Statesboro and these were both located in town. The local farmers could not provide enough beans so George Dixon set out to roast his own beans. He purchased three acres of land near his home and began building his own roasting shop. Dixon's Beans became one of the most popular small batch coffee brands in Georgia because they always provided high-quality products at a reasonable price point. Their blend of Colombian Supremo (a blend of Arabica and Robusta), Nicaraguan Montecristo (a blend of Guatemalan and Dominican coffees), Ethiopian Hario Koffee (a Kenyan black bean), Turkish Yirgacheffe (an Ethiopia red pepper) and Brazilian La Merced (a light Roquefort) all yielded delicious cupcakes with unique flavors that are still enjoyed today. In 1986, George Dixon passed away but his legacy lives on through his son-in-law Jim Mutch who continues to operate the business today under the name "George Dixon's Sons Coffee". In addition to their large variety of small batch coffee products, Jim also offers training programs for aspiring roasters which can teach people how to make great cupcakes from start to finish!

Statesboro was a town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 5,321 at the 2000 census. It was incorporated on February 10, 1881. Statesboro is named after General James H. Stoneman and his wife Martha Washington Stoneman. The first settler in what is now Statesboro was Ira Prentice in 1827. Ira's son David settled there in 1831 with his family and started a small farming operation. In 1840, John Kirby began to farm there and founded Kirbyville which became the largest cotton plantation in Georgia. In 1865, Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest moved south from Chattanooga to take command of the retreating Union army under Ulysses S. Grant near Suffolk County line (now Jonesborough). Forrest decided to make Statesboro his headquarters and ordered his troops to raze all of Kirbyville except for its few buildings used as barracks; about 20 structures were destroyed plus some trees that had been cut down for fuel purposes only months earlier! This event marked beginning of the end for Kirbyville as an important cotton plantation in Georgia! In 1881 Statesboro incorporation occurred when Fulton county voted 3-2 to form a new government with villages having autonomy within their own limits instead of being part of larger Towns or Cities like Atlanta or Savannah (which were then experiencing rapid growth). The towns’ limited size came into play during this time as they struggled against a much larger city which had become established as the leading economic center in southeastern Georgia by 1890-93 thanks largely to coal mining operations conducted by Youngstown Sheet & Tube Company along Interstate 85 between Atlanta and Savannah. Streets such as Broad Street served both cities during this period while downtown Atlantans built grandiose Masonic lodges catering primarilyto their growing elite class while smaller businesses struggled against waves of immigrants who arrived through Ellis Island just south of downtown Atlantans between 1915-1921 during World War I according to one study led by archaeologist Dr Don Easley with funds provided by Heritage Conservation Fund/National Park Service) . The cities experienced rapid growth following World War II due largely to military installations such as Fort McAllister which opened up throughout central Georgia; also several large textile companies located around Decatur including Gulftex Industries Incorporated (now known as Mohawk Industries) constructed large plants which contributed significantly toward regional economic growth during this period; however not all rural residents saw benefits from these industrial developments especially given that many families remained dependent on subsistence agriculture until recently given climate change impacts upon local soils iatmospheric acidification etc.; see: http://www1.gwuinfo.edu/~eritchie/southwest_georgia/statesboro_history/.
