The Statesboro Air Force Base gift history goes back to the early days of the military at Statesboro. In 1942, during World War II, the United StatesAAF began housing their fighter pilots and bombers at a new airfield in nearby Statesboro. The base was initially called Randolph Field and was used for training purposes only. However, after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941, the United StatesAAF quickly realized that they needed an airfield with more than just training use. So on January 9th, 1942, Randolph Field became Allied Station AAF-1 and started serving as a combat airfield for American forces during World War II. A few months later in February 1942, AAF-1 also became home to what would be known as "The Squadron". This was an all-black squadron of fighters which was meant to provide combat support for white units in the war. The Squadron operated from AAF-1 until September 1945 when it moved to RAF Fairford in England where it continued operations until disbanding in 1948. In 1947, AFB-1 also became home to one of America's first jet fighter wings when it activated the Ninth Air Force (9 AF). That same year saw AFB-1 become part of Tactical Air Command (TAC) when it merged with US Strategic Air Command (USSAC). With TAC control over AFB-1 came changes within the wing such as adding jets into squadrons and reorganizing command structures within Wing Headquarters here at AFB-1 itself. During this time period too there were upgrades/changes made to portions of runway 3 which would eventually become known as "the old end" or "Old 4" due to its proximity to other parts of AFB-1. In 1990s however things had changed quite a bit at AFB-1 with major renovations being done including construction of a new facilities annex which included additional hangars and barracks for both bomber and fighter pilots alike as well as an emergency landing area should any problems arise on main airport grounds!

In 2001, after 9/11 terrorist attacks took place within America, Congress passed the USA PATRIOT Act Amendments which banned most gifts sent to foreign nationals (except for those from certain states). As a result of this law change, many civilian aircraft were grounded throughout America as well as American embassies around the world due to increased security screenings and cautionary measures being taken by government officials and airline personnel alike. In 1826, Statesboro became part of theusr South Carolina Confederacy as a result of its close alliance with that state. Confederate General Braxton Bragg referred to Statesboro as "the key point in our line." Statesborough was one of two cities in Georgia which were not destroyed by Union forces during the American Civil War (the other being Dahlonega). After the war, Reconstruction began and many African Americans migrated to Statesboro and other southern cities looking for work opportunities. However, racism continued to exist throughout most of America until well into the 21st century. Today, statesboro is home to numerous businesses and organizations such as Black History Month Festival, State Fairgrounds Museum & Heritage Center (opened in 2009), and State University Of Georgia-State College Campus (opened in 2003).
The first European to arrive in what is now Statesboro was a man named James Cook, who landed on the Georgia coast in 1785. Cook's vessel, the Endeavour, explored and mapped much of the region. In 1801, John Ross discovered and mapmarked the area that would become Statesboro. The town was founded on December 12, 1802 by Colonel James McMurtry and his men after they traveled through the area searching for a land route from Mobile to Savannah.
