When Snellville was founded in 1892, coffee was still a secret. The town was founded on the banks of the Chattahoochee River and only a few farmers had access to the beans that were grown in nearby towns like Marietta and Athens. But with the arrival of railroads and other transportation methods, coffee became easier and more accessible to everyone. Coffee began to be exported from Snellville in 1907, and by 1922, it had become one of the first American cities to have its own roasting company. By 1929, Snellville had also become home to its first grocery store. The town's growth led to some interesting Coffee history events such as when in 1951 local businessmen decided to put an end to World War II by opening up a small roastery called Roasters & Brewers Incorporated (later known as Peet's). This event marked the beginning of what would eventually be called "coffee country". Today, Snellville is considered one of the most coffee-centric communities in Georgia because it has been able to maintain its unique flavor profile over time while becoming increasingly industrialized. The town has even become home to its own production brewery which produces roasted coffee for local consumption and exports out ofSnellville. In addition, there are now several cafes and restaurants located within walking distance of each other that serve fresh roasted coffee every day!
