The Savannah Coast Guard Auxiliary, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that serves the citizens of Savannah, Georgia since 1912. The Auxiliary provides a wide range of services, including law enforcement and First Responders protection; harbor and navigation patrol; search and rescue; public education; and more. Some of the most famous Coast Guard gifts from Savannah have been donations of lifejackets to firefighters in the city during the Great Recession, as well as a set of four lifeboats donated by local business owners in memory of their fallen brothers and sisters in law enforcement. After hurricanes Katrina and Rita hit Savannah in 2005 and 2006 respectively,Captain Wills made sure that all aspects of coastal rescue were handled perfectly by his personnel. Since its inception, the Coastal Guard has responded to countless emergencies including natural disasters such as hurricanes Catrina and Rita; chemical spills;boat collisions;and even car accidents! In October 2017 alone,the coast guard responded to 9 emergencies resulting in 5 arrests!
