Sandy Springs, Georgia is a small town located in metro Atlanta. It isadjacent to the counties of Fulton, Clayton, and DeKalb. The population of Sandy Springs was estimated at 91,211 as of the 2010 census. The city is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The earliest known inhabitants of Sandy Springs were Native Americans who lived near the confluence of the Chattahoochee and Flint rivers. In 1802, Englishman James Fenton founded what is now Sandy Springs on land granted by President George Washington to John Morgan. In 1806, General Andrew Jackson's army burned down much of downtown Savannah after learning that a large number of its citizens had taken refuge in Sandy Spring. During Reconstruction in Georgia following the Civil War, many African Americans moved to Sandy Springs from areas such as Athens and Macon because they were unable to find work in white-owned businesses or homes. Afterward, black residents formed their own churches and schools within the city limits until integration occurred in 1964 when all public schools became integrated nationwide under federal law. The city has experienced several cycles of growth and decline over its history; however, it remains one of the most economically active communities in metro Atlanta with job opportunities available for nearly every income level throughout both day and night hours. Prior to Hurricane Katrina damage which destroyed thousands of homes and businesses hereabouts during landfall on August 29th 2005 (the storm's official name at that time was "Potential Storm surge flooding"), this otherwise sleepy little town held an annual Fourth Of July parade which attracted some 2 million spectators over 25 years ago - an event still celebrated by locals today! The parade route winds through neighborhoods adjacent to Center City – including Forest Park – before marching upriver past Sandy Spring High School where attendance levels have been reported as high as 50% ever since! Today's economy leans more towards technology companies such as Google LLC., Coca Cola Company USA subsidiary Minute Maid Brewing Co., Pee Wee Herman Liquor Store & Casino Resort Inc., GEICO Insurance Company Headquarters & other heavy industry operations employing about 6000 individuals statewide; accounting firms like Peachtree Management Services LLP.; healthcare giants such as UnitedHealthcare Holdings Incorporated & Aetna Corporation; retail chains like Macy’s Department store chain etc.; but there are also scattered pockets scattered throughout Glendale Heights/Bishopville Estates/Canton Hills/Leesburg Heights etc., maintained by volunteer firefighters who protect municipal boundaries while firefights keep crews mobilized year round even during those times when there’s no major snarlup ahead! When I visited my old home address back in 2006 (!), it was just off US Hwy 278 about 5 miles north-west from downtown Atlanta proper between I-285 (Interstate 20) interchange #5A eastbound lanes heading northeast then southwesterly on 287 concurrent with HWY 278 (Marietta Rd) - making it close enoughto walk but far enough away from any real activity so you didn't feel crowded or unsafe surroundedby people who looked like they could do anything ! prior TO Katrina...I can only imagine how SATURNOUS things must have become once Irma came thru !!

Sandy Springs is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 25,626 at the 2010 census. It is the fifth-largest city in Georgia and one of its most populous cities. Sandy Springs was founded in 1856 as a small village on the "Salt River" located near present-day Sandy Springs Village and Newton Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1871, it became an incorporated town with a population of 5,500. The growth of Sandy Springs led to incorporation of other villages within the city limits: Springdale (1872), Dunwoody (1879), Lawrenceville (1881), and Mableton (1901). In 1907, Sandy Springs became an independent municipality again with a population of 20,000. The University of Georgia Sanford Stadium was built in 1922 on land donated by George Ewart Smith as part of his gift to the university. The stadium has been home to various NCAA Division I football teams since its inception; including Athens’ first college football team playing at the stadium in 1902 before moving to their current location east of campus. Today's University Of Georgia football program dates back to 1896 when two Georgian students—George Davis Marshall and Drury Lane Withers—met while attending Emory & Henry College near Atlanta and decided that they would form their own school if they could not attend UGA. In 1967–1968, images from reality TV show "The Price Is Right" were filmed atuned here for use on future episodes; as part of this project, then-Mayor James Letts created what is now known as Park Avenue South between Center Street and Peachtree Road outside City Hall for filming purposes during off-season months only which included Christmas season 1968 through 1970 inclusive In 1984–1985 Hurricane Betsy destroyed much or all downtown Savannah with extensive damage estimated at $2 million dollars That same year developer Harry Blackmon purchased much or all downtown Sandy Springs from Mayor Letts for $3 million dollars Olympic gold medalist Greg Louganis resides permanently adjacent Franklin Boulevard southwest corner lot bounded by Court House Place Northeast division line northwesterly corner lot bounded by Eastmoreland Avenue Northwest division line
