In 1951, Artisan Coffee Partners Inc., also located on Main Street, opened its doors for business. This company was founded by two friends, Dick Daley and Don Gatti, who were interested in promoting independent American-made coffee products. One of Artisan Coffee Partners' first endeavors was to start up a cooperative roaster called United Coffee Workers (UWC) which helped promote quality coffee throughout Georgia and South Carolina. In 1984, United Coffee Workers merged with Green Mountain Roasters to form Green Mountain Coffee Company!
