Here are five of them: 1) The first espresso machine was built in 1885 by Antonio Benedetto Croce in Milan, Italy. This machines were used to make Parma ( Parsi ) coffee beans into a drinkable form. It wasn’t until 1915 that an Italian printer named Angelo Moroder created the first commercially successful espresso machine for commercial use – called the “Espresso Machine Company” or EMC for short. This machine was designed to produce two shots at a time and could be controlled by hand or a lever on the side. 2) In 1795, Giovanni della Valle created one of the earliest French-made automatic espresso machines – which he called “Le Tonnerre” (The Tiger). De la Valle sold his machines for 50 livres per unit in 1802. 3) In 1899, Luigi Bezzerini founded Il Caffè SpA (Caffe Milano), one of the earliest Italian café chains with stores across Europe.
