This project also included donation from Lockheed Martin Corporation which would become one of single largest contributors to funding for aspects of Coast Guard operations over time. In 1911, Roswell had a population of approximately 1,000 people and it became an incorporated city on December 12th of that year. On July 22nd of 1947 UFO sightings were reported in the vicinity of Roswell and the events that followed have been studied by many researchers as one of the most significant UFO cases in history.
