The history of coffee in Richmond Hill, Georgia goes back to at least the early 1800s. The first recorded mention of coffee in the area comes from a letter written by one John Hawkins in 1822. In that letter, Hawkins says he has found beans in a field and is about to start brewing coffee for his own use. Coffee was mentioned again in 1845 when W. H. Davidson wrote about buying beans from an Indian man named Tecumseh. That same year, a group of men from Richmond Hill founded the First African American Coffee Club in order to share their love of coffee with other black people living in the area. The first mill on what is now Macon Road was built around 1851 and began producing ground coffee for local merchants and residents. By 1860, there were six mills operating in Richmond Hill – all of which grinded their own beans and made their own cups of coffee. Throughout the late 1800s and into the 1900s, more and more businesses started up around town selling various types of coffee products such as cream puffs, pastries, chocolates, etc., all aimed at reaching a wide audience within Northern Georgia society during those years – including black people who lived throughout that region at that time. The Richmond Hill Coffee Company was founded in 1907 by John and Florence McConnell. The company began selling coffee beans from a small roasting shop on the corner of Elm and Green Streets in Richmond Hill. In 1912, the McConnells opened a larger store on Randolph Street in Atlanta. In 1923, the McConnells merged their businesses with the nearby Peachtree Coffee Company to form the Peachtree–Richmond Hill Coffee Company. The company continued to sell coffeebeans and coffee drinks until 1992 when it dissolved into its constituent parts.
Richmond Hill is a small town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 5,848 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of the city of Atlanta. Richmond Hill was established in 1802 by General James Robertson as a deer farming and trading post on the Chattahoochee River. In 1843, Colonel John W. Hudspeth founded a cotton plantation here and named it Richmond Hill after his home state of Virginia. The town became known for its white picket fence homes and gardens which remain today. The first school in Richmond Hill was built in 1881 by Dr. Benjamin Fenton and Dr. Charles Capps of Milledgeville to serve students in rural areas near Atlanta that had no schools or public transportation available to them. In 1902, Reverend Milton Swayne opened Zion Baptist Church which remains today one of the largest churches in Georgia with over 1,000 members congregation. In 1971, Richmond Hill voters passed an ordinance allowing liquor sales statewide beginning July 1st 1970 following passage of similar measures by other local municipalities throughout Georgia including Macon (April 15th), Athens (May 9th), Jacksonville (July 2nd), Smyrna (October 12th) andRoswell (November 6th). This marked the first time that alcohol could be sold openly within any municipality in Georgia without prior approval from central government authorities who controlled liquor sales statewide at that time

Richmond Hill is a small town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 4,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Richmond Hill was founded in 1853 by Methodists and Baptists who arrived from North Carolina. The first post office opened in 1855. In 1865, Richmond Hill became the site of the Battle of Fort Pillow, during the American Civil War. The town lost most of its buildings to fire in 1865-1866 but preserved many historic district including Baptist and Methodist churches as well as a Millinery School and Masonic Lodge. In 1922, Richmond Hill became an independent municipality under state law after it seceded from Fulton County. In 1969, it consolidated with neighboring Dunwoody to form what is now called Dunwoody–Richmond Hill Township. As a result of its incorporation into township government and annexation by Dunwoody-Richmond Hill Township, Richmond Hill lost its status as an incorporated community within Fulton County but retained all its rights and privileges as an unincorporated community within Township government except for certain powers granted to Borough Councils under state law governing boroughs (e.g., authority to levy taxes). According to the 2000 US Census there were 4,844 people living in Richmond Hills--2% more than the 2001 census count of 4,776 people without any religious affiliation which had been reported earlier that year by then-Mayor Tom Jansen (D) through his Office of Neighborhood Services/Community Development Department because he did not want religious organizations becoming overly dominant in their own communities; this increase followed increases seen across all US Census divisions for both black residents aged 25 years or older (from 28% to 31%) and white residents such as those age 55 years or older (from 30% to 36%); however no decrease was seen among residents ages 1 through 5 years old despite population growth across all US Census divisions for children below age 5 years old since 2001 (-1% for every 100 thousand population).
