Perry is a small town located in the state of Georgia. The population was 1,859 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta-Fulton County metropolitan area and is home to the Perry Volunteer Fire Department and Perry High School. The history of Perry begins with its founding in 1837 by John Fenton and his wife Nancy. In 1881, Perry became a county seat with the addition of Watertown, Massachusetts as its capital. In 1914, Perry was named after General George Custer during World War I following his death in battle there that year. In 1935, it was renamed for Franklin D. Roosevelt after he became President of the United States. The name change came about because of local opposition to Roosevelt's New Deal policies which were unpopular in Perry. In 1959, Perry incorporated as an independent city and has since grown into one of Georgia's most populous cities with over 2 million residents today. The downtown district is known as "The Hub." One significant event that took place in Perry during this time was when rock musician Bob Dylan played three shows at nearby Grady Stadium on November 8th-10th, 1965 while performing his first tour across America since finishing up his contractual obligations with Columbia Records two years earlier.

Perry is a town in Cobb County, Georgia, United States. The population was 5,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta–Fulton metropolitan area. Perry was founded in 1802 by General James Wilkinson and his military unit under the command of Colonel John Ross. The town grew rapidly after it became a post office (1810) and railroad junction (1888). In 1907, Perry was renamed for George Washington Perry following his victory at the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. In 1898, Perry residents organized a group to promote annexation of adjacent Clinch County by Georgia as part of a plan to increase political power within the state. On May 2, 1899, an act of Congress approved annexation which created the city of Atlanta and incorporated all but one block of Perry into that city limits. The town's growth slowed during World War II as cotton production shifted from landfills to aircraft plants. However, the war led to an increased demand for crops and housing in postwar years; as a result, development resumed in earnest during the late 1960s and early 1970s. In 2006-2007, Perry experienced its first large-scale residential subdivision when Forest Park Village was created on land formerly used for agricultural purposes near downtown. In recent years there has been some resurgence in activity around downtown with new bars/restaurants opening up along Howell Mill Road as well as construction underway on several small businesses including one directly across Howell Mill Road from Empire Brewing Co., another Japanese restaurant called "Nasu", and a My Little Pony shop called Ponyville Rising which opened in early 2018 just outside downtown between City Hall Annex & Forsyth Barr Stadium
