As coffee beans are roasted, they increase in flavor and aroma. In the early 1800s, Peachtree City was one of the first places in America to roast coffee. The beans were brought over by a group of Dutch immigrants who landed on the Georgia coast in 1795. They started a small shop called The Dutchman's Coffee House on Meeting Street, which continued to serve coffee until 1825. In 1842, Peachtree City became an incorporated town and began to produce its own beans. By 1861, it had become the largest city in Georgia and had two large roasters - John Broughton & Sons and David Starr Jordan - both of which remain in operation today. The first espresso machines were invented in Italy in 1912 by Angelo Morselli and his brother Giuliano. They named their machine "Cappuccino" after Ciro Neruda, one of the most famous poets of that time. espresso later became popular all around the world including America where it first originated at Starbucks (now Dunkin' Donuts). In 1925, when Peachtree City's population was about 400 people, it had its first grocery store with a grocery line made up entirely of coffee products such as milk and bread products from local farmers. 2 years later we opened our second store on Clinton Street near the old post office building which served as our headquarters until 1961 when we moved into our current location on Paulding Avenue (just down from Druid Hills). We have been here since 1962! Today there are more than 10 stores throughout metro Atlanta selling everything from coffee drinks to food items!

Peachtree City, Georgia is home to the world's first coffee roasting company, Peachtree Coffee. The company was founded in 1865 by John Peachtree and his brother-in-law, Rufus W. King. The original Peachtree Coffee shop was located on Third Street in downtown Peachtree City. In 1876, the business moved to its current location on Court Avenue in south Atlanta. In 1912, Gertrude Hinton opened Peachtree Coffee & Tea Shop next door to her husband’s grocery store in downtown Atlanta. Mrs. Hinton continued to roast and sell her coffee from her shop until her death in 1957. After Mrs. Hinton's death, her son Harry took over the running of the business until he sold it to another family member in 1984. Today, Peachtree Coffee continues as a local institution with multiple stores throughout metro Atlanta and beyond.
Peachtree City is located in Fulton County, Georgia. The population was 86,539 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Fulton County. Peachtree City is a city with a population size of 107,545 as of 2019. The name "Peachtree" comes from the Cherokee word "ahti" meaning "headquarters." The first settler in what became Peachtree City was James Robertson in 1811. He and his family built a log cabin on the present site of the city in 1814. By 1840, over 150 people had moved to Peachtree City from all over Georgica County and Georgia. In 1847, General John Cate made an unsuccessful attempt to overthrow Andrew Johnson and gain control of the United States government through violence and intimidation. After this failed effort, Cate turned his attention to Georgia's eastern counties which he felt were being neglected by Johnson's administration. In order to take advantage of this opportunity, he formed a secret society called the Northern Crossroads Company with himself as its president and several other wealthy men from Atlanta. This group planned to create new settlements throughout eastern Georgia that would be self-sufficient and independent from federal authority. The primary goal of this organization was to build an economy that could support itself without dependence on outside sources of income or assistance. Unfortunately for Cate, his plans met with resistance from both political insiders and southern cotton farmers who saw him as a threat to their power position within the state government. After years of struggles against odds stacked against him, Cate finally succeeded in building an independent country within Georgian territory – Peachtreesville – only for it to be wiped out by Union forces during the Civil War when Atlanta fell into Confederate hands. For many years after Reconstruction ended in 1865, Peachtree City functioned as a small town known for its production of fruits and vegetables rather than for its role in post-war America. However, recent economic development has led PeachtREE CITYto become one of the most vibrant cities onthe continent! Today’s city began developing rapidly due largelyto two factors: 1) exploitationof natural resources such as coal miningand oil refineries located nearby;and 2) immigrationfrom countries such as Mexicoand Central America which brought large numbersof refugeesduringthe1970s “Period Of Adjustment”phaseoftheamericanizationprocess.(See alsodocumentedperiodicals articlebelow). As demand grew throughout Asia, however, Coffee began becoming more expensive and difficult to source locally. It wasn’t until the late 1990s that roasters started developing methods for processing fresh roasted beans directly into beverages such as espresso and cappuccino. At this point in time, there were significantly more talented baristas working together than ever before – making for better tasting drinks at much lower prices per ounce than traditional drip machines or capsules!
