The history of the United States Air Force begins with World War I, when America entered the conflict as a belligerent. The United States was involved in both wars, but it would be World War II that would put America on the world stage. In 1939, President Franklin D. Roosevelt announced his intention to build an air force and call for widespread production of American aircraft. By 1941, the USAAF had been organized into three wings: The First Air Force contained bombers and fighter planes; The Ninth Air Force was responsible for fighters and heavy bombers; and The Twelfth Air Force was responsible for transport planes. With its new capabilities came new challenges. In 1942, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, leading to mobilization in all sectors of society. On December 7th, 1942, President Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066 which ordered military forces to be turned over to Japan “without delay” or they would be considered hostile acts against the United States. This order altered the nature of war between America and Japan as bomber attacks became more common on Japanese positions throughout 1943 and 1944. On January 1st 1945, General Douglas MacArthur assumed command of all Allied forces in South East Asia after Viscount Slim resigned from his position as Chief-of-Staff due to health problems related to leukemia. MacArthur had desired control over all resources within South East Asia so he could pressure Japan into surrendering unconditionally without any concessions from Tokyo Bay's leadership

Norcross is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 7,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The Norcross area was first settled by European Americans in 1824 as part of the new county of Fulton. The town was named after John Norcross, a member of the General Assembly from Georgia who represented that district. In 1851, it became a separate municipality and until 1905 it functioned as an independent township with its own government and school system. In 1906, Norcross incorporated as a city under the name of Atlanta and has since grown to become one of the most populous cities in both Georgia and America. The city's history reaches back to 1824 when Europeans began settling in what is now Fulton County; norcross was first called "New Boston" because it housed new arrivals from Massachusetts on land given to them by Trustee Jonathan Brown for this use only. Norcross experienced significant growth during World War II as many businesses relocated to the city due to wartime shortages of resources elsewhere in America. After the war ended, Norcross experienced steady growth throughout the years until experiencing rapid growth following annexations by other municipalities within Fulton County during the late 1990s and early 2000s (known collectively as "the Great Growth"). Its mission is to provide airpower for America'sdefense needs through operations in all nine domains of US national security—the Middle East, Northeast Asia, South Asia, Europe/Central Europe, Africa/Middle East, Pacific Rim defense, and homeland security. The USAF also conducts nuclear deterrence by providing commanders with lethal intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and other nuclear weapons systems essential for overwhelming enemy forces. The origins of the USAF date back to 1919 when General Patrick Dunford organized the American Military Expeditionary Forces in support of Allied victory over Germany during World War I. In 1924 Congress passed an act creating the Aeronautics Branch within the Department of Commerce which became known as the Army Air Forces on 1 July 1929. On 17 October 1941 President Franklin D Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 which activated U2s under Lieutenant Colonel Edward "Buzz" Aldrin as part of Operation Paperclip – a secret program focused on acquiring American scientific talent for use in Nazi Germany. This led directly to Air Force One being created from Boeing X-15s flown by First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt on 7 February 1942 at Edwards AFB in California; it served as her presidential car until her death in 1994. The first operational jet Aircraft were Northrop F-5E Tigerhawks flying out of RAF Fairford Heath England from 8 December 1945 onwards! Inactivated: 15 May 1946

Norcross is a town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 9,895 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Norcross has been a center of trade and industry for centuries and its economy has been based on manufacturing, transportation, and service industries. The first settlers to Norcross were Baptist missionaries led by Dr. John Hiatt in 1824. They arrived after traveling through what is now Alabama, Tennessee, and other parts of the South. By 1840, there were about 20 people living in Norcross. A mill was built that year by Hiram Burtch and it soon became one of the leading mills in the area. In 1846-1847, Norross purchasedHelper's Mill from George Washington Hurt for $2,000 cash and started to build a new mill on Stroudsburg Road east of town. The new mill quickly became known as "Norcross' Father Mill". In 1848-1849, an additional two houses were added to what is now the north side of town (now US 27) for workers at Pemberton Bros., a local dry goods store which had recently opened up near what is now Interstate 285 south of town. The store continued to operate until 1915 when it closed because it could not compete with newer stores such as Sears & Roebuck located outside of townffor better prices on merchandise . Later that year (1849), James Witherspoon founded What's New? A Journal Of Social Inquiry And Politics At Home And Abroad which served as a forum for local discussion around topics like education reform or temperance issues among others before publication.. norcross started having dances every Thursday night so citizens could come together socialize without getting too busy with work or family
