Moultrie, Georgia is a small town located in the rural area of south-central Georgia. It was founded by John Clayton in 1847 and currently has a population of around 1,500 people. The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Company, Inc., also headquartered in Moultrie, made its first purchase of coffee beans from Africa in 1909. From that point on, Moultrie became known as the " birthplace" of gourmet coffee. Since the early days of gourmet coffee, some of the most famous brands that have originated from Moultrie include Starbucks, Peet's Coffee Company and Dunkin' Donuts Corporation. These restaurants have been able to provide unique experiences for their customers that are not possible anywhere else. In 1847, John Drew made a discovery that would change the course of history – he found coffee beans living on plantains instead of being roasted under trees. This new discovery allowed people to buy whole beans from farmers and roast them themselves at home instead of purchasing ground beans from a store or café. Coffee began to be consumed throughout North America and Europe as a result of this discovery. By 1870, over 100 different types of coffees had been developed! Moultrie coffee began as a small town in Georgia in the 1800s. The first coffee roasters in Moultrie were John Holm and Isaiah Cobb. It was Cobb who popularized the use of Ethiopian beans in Moultrie coffee. Today, Moultrie Coffee is one of the most well-known and respected coffee brands in the United States.
Moultrie is a small town in rural Georgia, located about 25 miles northwest of Atlanta. The population was 5,752 at the 2010 census. It is home to the Moultrie Museum and Library, which opened in 1984. The community began as a farming village on the east side of Hood River Lake. In 1837, a group of Scots-Irish immigrants founded Moultrie after purchasing 640 acres (24 km²) of land from the Cherokee Nation. They named their settlement after Lt. Govr. James Moultrie's father-in-law, who had also arrived in America in 1817 from Scotland as part of the First American Expedition under General George Washington. Moultrie quickly became an important center for trade and industry; its mills produced flour, cottonseed oil, paper, bricks and tiles. The town grew rapidly during the Civil War; by 1865 it boasted 1,500 residents and 20 businesses. After Reconstruction came to Georgia, Moultrie declined until it regained some prominence during World War II when many locals served in the military or were drafted into service. During World War II much of what remained of Moultrie was destroyed by fire; however parts such as the mill buildings were rebuilt and now form part of the Old Main Historic District which includes other historic buildings including Griggs School and Masonic Lodge No 3 (now known as Home Place). Today Moultiere retains its smalltown charm with its colorful streetscapes and friendly people
Coffee has been around for centuries and its history is filled with stories of colorful roasters and distinguished coffee houses. Some of the first coffeehouses were in Venice, Italy, and they served a unique blend of coffee which was reported to be very smooth. In 1724, a group of Dutchmen set up a small shop in Amsterdam that sold beans from Java plantations. Coffee became popularized in Europe after early travelers found it useful for keeping them awake on long travel routes. By the 1800s, coffee was being roasted all over the world, but it was primarily grown in Indonesia and Africa. Roasters took different approaches to their coffees, some using more soluble solids while others used whole beans or single origin beans. The most famous roaster of all time is Peruvian-American caffeine aficionado Pablo Escobar’s now-defunct La Casa del Oro Coffee Company that roast its own high quality beans under contract to several major roasters worldwide. The late 1700s and 1800s saw an increase in interest in fine wine as people began appreciating the taste and aroma of many different types of coffees. This led to new appreciation for premium coffees such as robusto (or black) blends as well as gourmet grades like “blend origin” or “100% Sumatra” that were only available from specific roasters. As espresso proliferated throughout society during this era, so too did café culture with its attendant cafes/bars where people would gather to enjoy their morning caffeine fix before starting their day work schedule. Over time, Café Gramercy also developed into one of New York City’s most popular tourist destinations because of its unique architecture and stunning views from adjacent rooftops overlooking lower Manhattan – perfect conditions for enjoying fantastic cupcakes while surveying Times Square below!

Moultrie was founded in 1819 by James Moultrie. The town is located in Shiawassee County, Georgia, and has a population of over 5,000 people. The cotton economy of the early 1800s relied on slave labor, but after the Civil War, Moultrie became an abolitionist community. In 1865, Moultrie was incorporated as a city.
Moultrie was first settled in 1785 by James Moultrie, a Revolutionary War veteran and father of later Georgia congressman John Moultrie. The town was named for Captain John Moultrie, who fought in the campaign against British forces at Yorktown. The first store in the community was operated by Capt. John's brother-in-law, Nathan Yancey. The first school in the area was opened by Rev. Amos Andrus on Christmas Day, 1801. By 1810, there were five stores and two schools and about 100 residents. In 1815, General Andrew Jackson moved his headquarters from Savannah to Moultrie after winning the Battle of Horseshoe Bend (on October 14). After the war ended with the Treaty of Paris, Moultrie became part of Georgia. In 1865, an act to create counties within Georgia was passed by the General Assembly and signed into law by Governor John Aiken. This act created Polk County and included parts of Gainesville and Athens counties including Moultrie Township. In 1870, a new courthouse was built in Moultriesville and served as county seat until 1906 when that office went to Atlanta.
