Monroe, Georgia is a small town located in the southern part of the United States. It was founded in 1821 by brothers John and James Monroe. The Monroes were among the first people to settle in what is now Monroe County, Georgia (now Fulton County). They came from Virginia and were farmers who farmed land around Blacksburg and Manassas Junction in Virginia before moving to what is now Monroe County and settling on land that they purchased from the Waco Native Americans in 1811-12. The Monroes had two sons- James Jr., who married Mary Todd Lincoln, and John- one of America’s most famous presidents, who served three terms (1849-1857) as president of the United States; while his brother James Sr., who later served as governor of Louisiana (1901-1913), represented their interests at home seeking passage of Reconstruction Laws which ended slavery within our country . plantation crops such as cotton were their mainstay until well into the 20th century when meat replaced them as the primary source of income for many family members across rural Georgia . John F Kennedy was born on November 12, 1917, in Boston MA to Joseph P “Joe” Kennedy Sr., an Irish immigrant father and Sarah Elizabeth Healy (née Walsh).
