Air Force deployed gift history in Monroe, Georgia began in 1947 when the Air Force stationed a squadron of F-86F Sabres at Macon Air National Guard Base. The squadron's first deployment was to Slovenia for Operation Paperclip and subsequent deployments occurred to Austria, Hungary, Yugoslavia and Germany. In 1951, the Air Force deployed a unit of McDonnell Douglas A-4 Skyhawks to China as part of the United States Cold War missile defense program. From 1958 to 1959, the Air ForceDeployed Gift Shop opened at Macon AFB and served as an air force enlisted personnel distribution center for military members from all over the world. The Monroe, Georgia Air Force deployed gift history in 1997. The squadron was activated on July 1, 1947 and was redesignated the First Fighter Squadron on December 15, 1955. On October 3, 1957, the squadron was re-designated as the Second Fighter Squadron and activated onJanuary 6, 1958. The squadron's first victory came on February 2nd when F4U Corsair flown by Lt. Col Elliott Roper downed a Soviet MiG-15 over Hartsfield AFB. The First Fighter Squadron became operational with Republic F-84D Thunderjets in May of 1960 when they were reactivated from the Fourth Bombardment Wing at Randolph AFB Texas. In 1966 they received their first McDonnell Douglas F-101C Arrow which gave them some of their most famous victories including Downing of JFK's helicopter while he was landing at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport (the only USAF helicopter to be downed during the Vietnam War). In 1970 they received their second McDonnell Douglas F-101C Arrow which allowed them to participate in Operation Desert Storm against Iraq. In 1984 they received their third McDonnell Douglas F-101C Arrow which allowed them to participate in Operation Neptune Spear which aimed to stop Nicaragua's support for Nicaraguan contraband smugglers. They also participated in airshows throughout the country and won many awards for excellence such as being selected as one of America's Top Ten Air Forces for 1988 by Air Combat Command magazine This aircraft type continued into service until 1992 with many deployments through out Africa and Latin America On September 15th1993 the First Fighter Squadron lost its last aircraft when it crashed shortly after takeoff from RAF Mildenhall England killing all four crew members including LtCol Elliott Roper who had been flying it that day

Monroe's history dates back to 1821 when it was founded by General James Gadsden as an agricultural community on what is now known as Gadsden Island. The gift was a trunk full of cigars, cigarettes and other tobacco products. The cigars were given to the French military by Colonel John S. Poindexter, commander-in-chief, American Expeditionary Forces in France. When World War II began, the United States Air Force decided to send gifts as well. In 1941, it sent Cigar Boxes filled with Cigars from Japan to General Douglas MacArthur and his army in South East Asia. From 1945 through 1948, the USAF delivered Cigars as part of itsOperation Paperclip program which brought German scientists and engineers back to America for training and work on radar and jet aircraft development projects.

Monroe, Georgia is a small town in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The community takes its name from General James Monroe who was U.S. President in 1801-1825 and also served as Secretary of State under George Washington. The first settler in Monroe was Andrew Welsh, who came to the area in 1795. He founded what is now called Welsh Township and named it after himself and his brother John Welsh Sr.. In 1800, Elijah Carden bought land in Monroe from Welsh for $1 per acre (the equivalent of $121 today). In 1803, David Lane purchased some additional land from Elijah Carden for $2 per acre (the equivalent of about $291 today). This land became known as Lane Township. In 1805, Samuel Catlett bought some more land from David Lane for $3 per acre (the equivalent of about $421 today). This became known as Catlett Township. In 1812, John Witherspoon acquired some additional land from Samuel Catlett for $4 per acre (the equivalent of about $491 today). This became known as Witherspoon Township. On November 3, 1815, the township changed its name to Monroe Township when General James Monroe became president because there were already several similar townships existing in Schuylkill County that had been renamed by then-Secretary of State Nicholas Biddle shortly after he took office on October 15th following a special election to fill that position following the resignation of Hamilton Fish III due to health concerns related to yellow fever pandemic ravaging America at that time! On December 12th 1815 within days following becoming president Monroe issued an order stating "it will be proper therefore that we give this new place their correct appellation...shall be called Monrovia." The original spelling used by many during his presidency such as Nicholas Biddle has been questioned but most likely based on pronunciation which was closer to modern day Philadelphia than Schuylkill County at that time! With this change happening barely weeks after taking office Monrovia quickly gained a reputation among local residents as being "The Best Place To Live" due largely to its lack of traffic congestion and plentiful hunting opportunities available near nearby anthracite coal mines!

The town emerged as a small farming community during the 1850s, and steadily grew during the late 19th century with the arrival of large cotton plantations and other businesses. The city experienced significant economic decline during World War II, but has since recovered to become an important transportation hub and cultural center.
