The air force gift history in Milton, Georgia began with the formation of the Air Force Base here in 1948. The base was later renamed Milton-Ft. Benning Airport after General Benjamin F. Davies, Commander of United States Strategic Air Command from 1951 to 1957. It was during this time that the USAF began its relationship with local businesses and citizens in Milton. In 1954, a new hangar and training area were completed at the airport and became home to both the civil aviation authority (CAA) and USAF fighter pilots. In 1962, another hangar was built for the CAA which served as their headquarters until 1978 when they relocated to nearby Wright-Patterson AFB. In 1968, while stationed at RAF Bentwaters in England, Major General James Eustis gave a presentation on how air forces could provide protection for US Embassy staff during an upcoming peacekeeping operation in Africa. The presentation helped change forever howvernight Milton residents viewed their neighbourhood when he announced his decision to keep the Air Force Base here permanently! The military has continued to play an important role in our community ever since then by providing services such as aerospace engineering research and development programs, disaster relief efforts, security patrols and more!

Airforce gift history can be traced back to the early days of the United States Air Force. The USAF was founded on September 17, 1947 as the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAF/E). Headquarters were located at RAF Bentwaters near London, England. At its inception, the USAF consisted of two commands: the European Command and Pacific Command. The European Command was responsible for NATO's military activities in Europe while the PacificCommand aimed to support American allies within Asia and Oceania. The USAF's first gift was a Boeing 727-200 aircraft from Seattle Airlines in 1950. This plane served as both an operational transport and cargo aircraft for USAAF units stationed in Europe. In 1951, the USAAF gifted a Lockheed L-7R jet trainer to RAF Mildenhall in England for use by British air forces. The Lockheed L-7R became one of America's most successful jets duringthe Cold War years. In 1962, America donated another jet trainer to RAF Mildenhall; this time, it was a McDonnell Douglas MD-11C jet trainer nicknamed "Dolphin". These jets were often used by RAF pilots training new American fighter pilots recruits at bases throughout Great Britain and Continental Europe. In 1969, America gifted another McDonnell Douglas MD-11C jet trainer to RAF Valley Common in Berkshire County, England as part of Operation Good Neighbor II celebrations which honored Soviet Air Marshal Ivan Turgenev with an honorary award for his contributions to peacekeeping operations across Africa during that year's Polish Revolution. During these same years, the USAF also donated a number of other planes and equipment including tents, radios, vehicles and more! By 1987, whenCONTRACTS OF THE AIR FORCE WERE TRANSFERRED FROM THE UNITED STATES TO THE NATIONWIDE MILITARY SYSTEM UNDER THE PRESENT NAME OF THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE (USAF), GIFT HISTORY IN AFRICA STOPPED AS AN OFFICIAL PART OF THAT SYSTEM BUT CONTINUED THROUGHOUT ITS TRANSITION TO THAT NEW NAME AND FUNCTIONING MPEGNDINGS." Milton was a small town in Clarke County, Georgia, United States until the early 20th century. It is now part of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Milton was founded in 1817 by James Milton and his wife Nancy. The first post office at Milton was established in 1820. James Milton served as county treasurer from 1824 to 1830 and as justice of the peace from 1830 to 1834. He also served as a delegate to the Georgia Constitutional Convention of 1792 and to the state constitutional convention of 1800. In 1797, he married Nancy (née Atkinson) and they had five children: Jameson (1801-1881), John (1803-1875), Hannibal (1800-1867), Eliza Jane (1800-1868), and Sarah Elizabeth (1800-1886). In 1800, when it became known that General William Troup would be invading Georgia with an army numbering over one thousand men, Jameson Milton gathered some friends together and formed a militia company to help protect the citizens of their county. The company fought against Troup's forces at Chickamauga on September 25, 1800. After this successful engagement, the militia company became known as "The Company" or "The Thirteenth Regiment." After the war ended in November 1800, Jameson Milton returned to his farmstead near present day Thomaston with his family. On December 3rd of that year he wrote a letter home for inclusion within the first volume of what would become known as The Papers Of Jameson Milton published by Bureau Of American History in 1951. In this letter Hamilton Wright wrote about how "Mr. Milton has been very useful both politically and industriously...he has [made] himself indispensable." Mr .Milton lost interest in farming after Reconstruction began although he still donated land for schools Catawba County public schools were built on portions of his farmstead which are now used for parking spaces by students attending nearby Limestone Community College; these properties include part number 7405 – now located at Eastwood Road off State Route 159 between Thomsonville High School & Lawrenceburg Middle School). In 1840 Mrs .Milton moved her family back into their old home which stood on lot number 538A within walking distance of where they currently reside; however due à la carte dining services having ceased at that location circa 1961 few if any events or functions took place there anymore other than hosting neighborhood potlucks during lunchtime numerous times per week also most recently during Homecoming weekend each year since 2007 actually taking place inside their current garage/workshop annex building adjacent to Eastwood Rd./Highway 159 just south side entrance ramp leading up driveway next door
Milton, Georgia was founded in 1823 by a group of colonists from Massachusetts. The town was named for John Milton, an English political philosopher and member of the Parliament of England who helped author the Bill of Rights in 1688. The town quickly became a center for agricultural production and development, with mills and businesses dotting the landscape. In 1840, Milton voters passed a local ordinance creating a government that would be responsible for providing education, health care, and infrastructure. The city continued to grow over the next few decades, becoming one of the largest in Georgia. By 1960, Milton had become home to over 30,000 residents and had annexed adjacent townships.
