As a result, many small-scale brewers closed down or went out of business altogether. However, some continue to operate today as independent ventures with their own unique processes and products.

Mcdonough is a small town in Georgia. The population was 9,546 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Mcdonough County. It lies on the east bank of the Chattahoochee River, about 25 miles (40 km) north of Atlanta and 50 miles (80 km) west of Savannah. The town was founded in 1785 by General James McDonough and named for him. The first post office in Mcdonough was established in 1785, and its name changes several times before becoming "McDonough" in 1802. In 1811 it was moved to its present location on the east bank of the Chattahoochee River. The first courthouse in Mcdonough was built in 1824. According to the 2000 census, there are 3,958 households out of which 36% have children under age 18 living with them, 53% are married couples living together, 15% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24% are non-families. There are 2,549 families; 55% have children under age 18 living with them

One of the earliest references to coffee is from Babylon, where it was mentioned in a treaty between king Hammurabi and his vassal Puzur-Sin (c. 1700 BC). Coffee was also present in Egyptian tombs, as shown by an inscription from the Twenty-fifth Dynasty (1550 BC) that speaks of how Pharaohs used to drink coffee while they were on their way into Thebes to meet with their friends. The first espresso machine was built in Italy in 1795 by Angelo Braidone. This machine allowed for a pot size of up to 2 ounces, making it the smallest espresso machine at that time. In 1814, Giovanni Battista Peruzzi built the first modern coffee house in Rome with his new percolator device known as il cencio whichavedo (the cannula). It served as both a café and bar until 1870 when it became an independent public house called L’Espresso delle Dogane (The Espresso House of Dogs). In 1875, Luigi Bezzuoli began brewing coffee at home using a small copper boiler called a bagnuccino carafe. He named his company La Scala Coffee Company because he found this pattern on a sign outside his business place–a cup made from two parts water and one part ground beans. In 1902, Alberto Morini began selling whole bean coffees under the name Universale Coffee Company Ltd.. In 1915, Dutch exporter Hendrik Jan Selten offered Italian Lionello Fraschini ownership of two factories manufacturing fresh roasted national espresso beans for distribution throughout Europe. As Fraschini's business grew he decided to open his own roastery which would become La Tazzina dello Erano (The Evening Star Roastery) located on Via Monte Cristo near Piazza San Lorenzo in central Rome. By 1966 all production had shifted to three facilities – Beveglio in Milan; Rovereto near Florence; and Gubbio near Lake Garda – making it one of Europe's largest espresso producers 1

In 1871, coffee was formally importuned into the United States from Mexico. The trade grew rapidly due to advances in transportation and product quality. By 1912, more than two million pounds of coffee were being exported annually.
When white settlers first arrived in what is now McDonough County, they found a land that was rich in natural resources. The area was home to many big trees and plenty of water resources. One of the first people to settle in this area was John Mcdonough, who built a cabin in 1828. In 1850, the county seat was moved from Athens to McDonough and it remained the primary town until 1903. Many important events took place during this time, including the construction of the railroad in 1867 and the opening of Georgians State Normal School in 1887. In 1902, McDonough became an incorporated town. Today, much of what once constituted McDonough County has been absorbed by Fulton County, Georgia. However, there are still several notable landmarks located within its boundaries- such as Jasons Mill Pond and White Sands Cemetery.
Mcdonough was founded in 1815 by Captain John McDonough and his family. The town developed around a sawmill, gristmill, and post office. When the railroad arrived in 1876, Mcdonough became an important hub for the local industry. In 1915, the United States Post Office moved from its original location to Mcdonough.
