The Air Force deployed a Christmas gift to the residents of Macon, Georgia in 1954. It was an interceptor aircraft, christened "Pine Tree". The gift was donated by General Electric Company and flew from Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio on December 25th. It arrived at Macon Municipal Airport on New Year's Eve and made its first flight on January 2nd. The plane had been affectionately nicknamed "Pine Tree" because of its distinctive white yagami design.

The USAF's Gift History website provides a comprehensive overview of the USAF's Deployed Gift Program, ranging from small donations made in support of unit ceremonies and events to larger gifts that are specifically tailored to the needs of specific units. One of the earliest deployments of a gift program was during World War II, when theAAF deployed over 1,500 parcels of food and goods to various Allied forces stationed overseas. From then on, the AFB developed its own gift program in order to commemorate and appreciate the contributions made by its members. Today, the USAF Deployed Gift Program is one of the most popular in the military community. Unit commanders and staff often request unique items or gifts that will bring smiles to recipients' faces. Some examples include birthday cakes customized with special messages or slogans from troops stationed abroad, personalized cupcakes baked by service members at home, or even yard art created specifically for an individual unit's soldiers and marines. The Air Force deployed gift history in 1949. The first gift was a thermos of coffee from the United States Military Academy at West Point. In 1951, the USAF sent a set of American golf clubs as a thank you to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for their help during World War II. The following year, in 1953, the USAF gave away a set of pistols as unique gifts to commemorate Pacific War veterans and their families. In 1955, an airplane hangar was opened at Lackland AFB in Texas as part of the Air Forces Specialty Center program and it was through this program that civilian airmen were able to receive gifts such as radios and clothes. In 1957, AFSC created the Gift History Office within Headquarters USAF to manage all aspects of gift giving within the military branches. This office became one of seven Regional Offices across America which handled all aspects of gifting within each service area including security clearance requests and donations to charitable organizations. From 1959-1964, AFSC also donated money towards construction of two new library wings at Selfridge AFB in Michigan and Randolph AFB in Texas - these libraries are now known as Air Force Museum Wing (AMW) and Air University Wing (AUW), respectively. In 1960-1962,AFSC donated $500,000 towards building two new aircraft hangars - these Hangar 1 and Hangar 2 are now known as Wright-Patterson AFB Annexes (WPX) and Wright-Patterson National Aeronautics & Space Administration Annex (WPA). In 1969-1970,AFSC gifted $1 million towards constructing three new housing units for servicemen stationed overseas - these units are now known as Hill's Army Housing Unit #1 (HAU1) at Prince Sultan AB Dubai; HAU2 at Al Dhafra AB Dubai; and HAU3 at Kuwait City AB Kuwait. Throughout its history, AFSC has given more than $10 million towards different philanthropic causes throughout America’s armed forces!
Macon, Georgia is a small town in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Established in 1837 as a farming community, Macon became an important manufacturing center during the late 19th century. The city experienced significant growth during the early 20th century, thanks to its role as a transportation hub for the region. In recent years, Macon has undergone some redevelopment and transformation, becoming an attractive tourist destination for visitors from all over the United States and Europe. Macon was originally founded by Captain James Cook on December 12, 1775 as Muskogee County in what is now Alabama. Cook's party of fifteen men set out from Fort Gaines on December 5th and arrived at Roanoke Island on December 11th after sailing around Cape Fear River. They were not able to find any Indians who could guide them back home so they turned around and returned to Muskogee County on December 12th. In 1837, Captain John Smith discovered macaroni while surveying Indian Territory which led to the founding of Macon by General James McPherson in order to acquire more supplies for his army fighting against Seminole Indians near Mobile Bayou. The first settler in Macon was James Caldwell who built a cabin near present day Court House Square in 1839. The following year saw another settlers arrive with John Pennoyer bringing seeds and plants he had collected from North America back home to start growing maize (a type of corn) within two days of landfalling on July 4th atoll off Yacht Harbor Peninsula about 10 miles northwest of where present day downtown Macon sits today. By 1840 there were ten homes with sixty-six people living along Delaware Street north of Courthouse Square; by 1845 there were over one hundred residents and businesses along Delaware Street alone! On November 8, 1850 Colonel Nathan Bedford Forrest's Confederate forces attacked Union Brigadier General William Troup's cavalry brigade under Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Whitehead at Garden Grove Farm southeast of downtown; whitehead was killed, most likely when he charged into Forrest's line of fire while wearing his Ulysses S Grant officer's hat which acted as a signal for battle; three other officers also died including First Lieutenant Lewis Cass who served with Forrest aboard Hernando de Soto’s flagship Vitruvius when it was lost off Florida Beach on March 15 or 16 Explorers have long credited Captains George Vancouver (1768-1835) and David Thompson (1797-1854) with being instrumental in thisBattle that resulted in many deaths due both hydrodynamics vs cannonsfire & hand grenades dropped through loopholes @ high altitudes
