Lilburn is a small town in Georgia, located about 25 miles northeast of Atlanta. The population was 9,913 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fulton County local government area. The economy of Lilburn is based on agriculture and manufacturing. There are three businesses in Lilburn: a grocery store, a millinery shop, and a printing company. The millinery shop specializes in making women's clothes. Lilburn was founded in 1881 by brothers Isaac and Elijah Brownell. They were farmers who decided to move to what is now Lilburn to be closer to their family farmsteads in Coweta County. The first settlers arrived in 1882, and by 1888 there were 8 families living here: 4 white, 2 black, 1 Native American (Seminole), and 1 Chinese immigrant (Hui). The community experienced some growth during the early years but slowed down after World War II until the late 1970s when it started to rebound with the arrival of new residents and businesses such as an automotive plant and a fertilizer plant. In recent decades, Lilburn has seen significant redevelopment with several new buildings being built including two high school stadiums which have helped contribute to its current population size of over 10,000 people

Lilburn is a town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 6,774 at the 2010 census. Lilburn is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1811 and named for General James Wilkinson Lilburne, an American general who fought in the Mexican-American War. It was incorporated as a village in 1871. In 1906, when it merged with neighboring Marietta to form the new city of Atlanta, Lilburne became one of its first wards. The town's history can be traced back to 1811 when General James Wilkinson Lilburne settled on land that now includes parts of Southside and Eastside neighborhoods of Atlanta. He named his new settlement after himself and soon began construction on what would become one ofAtlanta's earliest commercial districts - including stores at Ponce de Leon and Peachtree Streets NW - which he called "Lilburneville". For many years this district served as the nucleus around which other smaller villages gradually coalesced around it until Atlanta annexed them all in 1886. In 1906, when Atlanta became a city again, Lilburne joined with adjacent Marietta to form the new city of Atlanta; however, much like his predecessors before him, General James Wilkinson Lilburne refused to surrender his home or leave his community behind. Instead he continued to live blocks away from City Hall until his death in 1919 – just days shy of 100 years old! Although largely forgotten today due to Changes within Atlantica over time (particularly gentrification) – Lil Burne still retains a proud place among our city's historical landmarks thanks largely to the efforts of local preservationists such as those working at nearby Grady Park Zoo!
Lilburn was founded in 1875 by John Lilburn, a white settler. It became a small town near Atlanta. In the early 20th century, it became known for its steel mills and textile industry. The town was destroyed in a tornado in 1935.
