Lilburn, Georgia is a small town in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The community was founded in 1881 by farmers who moved from Tennessee to purchase land near what is now Lilburn. The first coffee shop in Lilburn was opened in 1901 by J.C. Whitaker and his son, John C. Whitaker Jr.. The shop served as a social center for the community and sold both coffee and rolls of toilet paper. In 1924, Harry Sennett opened the first grocery store in Lilburn and began selling coffee beans from his home. In 1945, Mr. Sennett donated a large jar of his own roasted coffee to be used at the new library which later became known as the Harry Sennett Coffee House. In 1951, Mrs. Anna Griggs purchased property adjacent to her house on Cemetery Road and began growing coffeebeans on her lot. She introduced her product to local businesses and residents beginning in 1952 until her death in 1984; at which time, her daughter took over operations of the shop until it closed its doors for good in 1991. During Mrs. Griggs’ ownership, she maintained an open-air roasting bed located on top of her garage where she roasted beans during warm weather months; this tradition continued into recent times with current owner Jessica Kingman roast their beans outdoors on their large deck during summer days when temperatures exceed 50 degrees F (10 degrees C). Since its inception, Cafe Donut has been one of Lilburn's most popular businesses with customers coming from all over town for breakfast or lunch every day since itopened its doors on March 17th 1985! The first settlers in what is now Lilburn were farmers and traders who arrived in 1780 from North Carolina. They named their small town after a plantation near Savannah where they had been living while they awaited word from England that they might be allowed to immigrate to America. In 1824, an act of Congress designated Lilburn as the seat of government for new land east of the Appalachian Mountains which included all modern-day Fulton County (including Lilburn) and parts of Gwinnett and DeKalb counties to the south and west, respectively Lilburn's growth came about because its location made it an ideal spot for cotton plantations; production increased 20-fold between 1800 and 1870 due to demand from both slaveholders and merchants throughout South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Florida. From 1830 until 1865, when Reconstruction ended with Confederate defeat at Appomattox Court House, Lilburn was one of twelve northern cities that became open markets for southern goods during this period; manufacturing rapidly expanded there as well as into other sectors such as food processing and light industry before returning to cotton during World War II. The town is named after General James "Jimmie" Lilburn who fought in the American Revolution and died in 1781. Lilburn was originally part of Muskogee County, Oklahoma. Lilburn became a incorporated municipality on December 1, 1907. On January 1, 1959, it merged with Muskogee to become one municipality. It still remains as an unincorporated community within Muskogee County although its ZIP code is 72634. The town has had many different names over time including: Indianola (1872-1893), Stonington (1899-1912), Gradyville (1914-1920), and finally Lilburn (1927). In 1903 the name change from Indianola to Lilburn in honor of General James "Jimmie" Lilburn who fought in the American Revolution and died in 1781. At that time, General James "Jimmie" Lilburn's home was located just west of present day Lilburn on what is now Utopia Parkway which led to his nickname of J 'n' G because he always walked his horse around his plantation looking for new land to purchase which he called JIMMIE Land. In 1927, during prohibition era when alcohol was illegal throughout most of America, the government authorized its own private liquor monopoly within Muskogee County so that grocery stores could sell hard liquor without violating law - this allowed for the first time ever instance where people in rural areas could buy beer and wine both legal products while still living close to large cities like Atlanta where these products were only available through organized gangs or illicit marketers/dealers who smuggled them into city limits undetected
