The museum has more than 6000 artifacts from both maritime history and local culture including items from the Battle of Mobile Bay. The museum’s collection spans back over 175 years and includes nearly 30% of all American naval vessels built for service in World War II.

At that time, there were very few boats on the Atlantan coastline, so fishermen would take advantage of the local coral reefs to collect seafood. As a result, many small donations of fish or other seafood were collected and given as gifts to friends and family.
Lilburn is a city located in Athens County, Georgia, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. Lilburn is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. It is home to the University of Georgia and nearby hospitals such as Cobb County Hospital and Grady Memorial Hospital. The name "Lilburn" means " Occupations Creek." The creek was named for Samuel Lilburn, one of the first white settlers in this area in 1819. He built a cabin on the creek by 1800. In 1825, he married Rachel Holcombe and moved to what is now called Lilburn from his original location near present day Roswell. The first store in what is now Lilburn opened in 1827 on Pryor Road (now Pryor Boulevard). The store became known as "Cobb's Store". By 1830 there were six stores operating in what is now Lilburn: two grocery stores, two hardware stores, two blacksmiths, and one printing shop. The first school also opened here in 1830-31; it was a log building with a few pupils who attended morning classes until it burned down in 1835. In 1840 Methodist missionaries arrived in Athens County and started teaching church services here; they renamed the town "Lilburn" after their missionary headquarters (later known as First Baptist Church). In 1850–51 General William Troup's army camped nearpresent day Roswell while supplies were being brought overland from Chattanooga to join General Beauregard's army marching through Georgia during the American Civil War; when Confederate forces discovered this encampment they burned all but three buildings including most of the tents and munitions cache before moving on without finding any food or ammunition! When news reached Atlanta that General Troup's army had been destroyed at Perryville outside of Atlanta proper some weeks later (1861), local businessmen finally realized enough money had been invested into cotton plantations east of downtown for them to start rebuilding so decided to do just that – build new homes! Some 100 dwellings were finally completed here between 1865-1900 though many more may have been built but never occupied because much construction rubble still remains today! After Reconstruction ended following World War II only 10% of residents returned to live within their original neighborhoods which suggests quality control problems similar to those experienced during earlier phases of mass Negro migration westward

Lilburn is a small town in Georgia, located in the Chattahoochee Valley. The population was 1,847 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Athens-Clarke County School District and is home to Lilburn High School. Lilburn was established on May 12, 1802 by three settlers, John Hargrave, James Cook and George Armstrong Cushing. The town was named for General Nathaniel Gadsden's widow, Lydia Cushing. Lilburn has a rich history dating back to 1802 when three settlers, John Hargrave, James Cook and George Armstrong Cushing founded Lilburn on May 12 of that year. The town was named for General Nathaniel Gadsden's widow - Lydia Cushing who had previously donated land to help form this community. In 1881 it became apparent that an area north of the current high school would be necessary to accommodate increased student populations and construction began on what is now known as North Park Elementary School which opened in November of that year. In 1907 it became apparent that another area north of the current high school would also need to be constructed due to increasing population growth within the community - this led to the construction of South Park Elementary School which opened in October 1907. In 1928 it became apparent that additional classrooms were needed so that LILBURN HS could support its growing student body and construction began on what is now known as Southern Hall which opened in 1929. That same year LILBURN HS moved from its original location across from Central High School into an newly renovated building which continues to serve as our present day Main Library / Administration Building today! One important event which took place during these years was when Mrsiciency Cobb desired her daughter Bessie (later Mrs proficiency Cobb)zoom her way around with a view so she could learn more about local government inside & outside her homes while living at home; this allowed young ladies like myself some excellent opportunities while growing up here! The following years saw many changes including but not limited to: Mrs proficiency Cobb moving away after serving 3 terms as Mayor & Company president; Mr Pritchard taking over running things until his death 4 years later;Mrs proficiency Cobb returning for another term 2 years later before retiring permanently dueplexity; Lt Gov Fenton appointed Chairwoman/ Deputy Chairwoman for Education Cabinet members position effective Spring 1974 thru Fall 1977 then resigned effective Fall 1977 duexpansion plans resulting from numerous state budget cuts impacting education funding across all denominations within our county... Finally during my tenure as Superintendent beginning January 1st 1978 thru December 31st 1984 we experienced major flooding events affecting our community resultant in damage done both physically & emotionally throughout our homes ; however through continued hard work by educators & parents alike we recovered quickly thanks largely in part to donations received by individuals willing or able to step up their generosity!! Nowadays much has changed since those early days including proliferation of cell phones making communication difficult if not impossible during certain periods... However I firmly believe that through collective effort we can always maintain some measure of order despite these challenges !!
