The Kingsland Military Deployed Gift History began in 1978 when the Kingsland Auxiliary Police Department was founded. The Auxiliary Police Department was first organized as a unit of the Georgia National Guard. In 1978, the auxiliary police department became an independent law enforcement agency and adopted the name, "Kingsland Auxiliary Police Department." The Kingsland Auxiliary Police Department has served our community since 1978. Today, we are a full-time law enforcement agency and provide unarmed protection to citizens and businesses in Kingsland, Ga. We continue to be a valued part of our community by providing service with distinction and professionalism. In 1978, when the Kingsland Auxiliary Police Department was formed, there were no military gifts from outside of Georgia that were specifically for Law Enforcement Officers. In 1980, after more than 20 years of serving our community as an independently operated law enforcement agency, King's Land Army Ammunition Plant provided gift donations for both our officers and civilians alike. This generous donation allowed us to purchase new firearms which we could use on a regular basis to protect our citizens and businesses from crime. This man-made security feature continues to help keep our community safe today! Since then, numerous other military branches have donated gifts or equipment to King's Land Army Ammunition Plant through various donations or transfers over time. These contributions have included communication systems such as satellite phone technology (2001), armored vehicles (2009), water filtration systems (2007) and dozens of other items! It is truly amazing what these donations can do for our local economy! Thank you for your support!

Kingsland is a town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 5,859 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Kingsland is located on the east bank of the Chattahoochee River and bordered by North Gwinnett County to the north, Cobb County to the west, and Dekalb County to the south. Kingsland was founded in 1837 by John King as a settlement on what is now Governors Island. A ferry landing connected Kingsland with Sandy Hook on Georgian Bay. In 1843, King completed a canal through his land that became known as The Canal Road. In 1865, John King's son-in-law James Buford organized a group of farmers and businessmen who bought 1 square mile (2 hectares) of land stretching from downtown Kingsland across to rolling hills southeast of town along what is now I-285/I-85 South. This became Dunwoody Park; it was renamed Kingsland in 1881 after James Buford's daughter Queenie Bolton married General George Armstrong Custer during an army expedition into Indian Territory led by Ulysses S. Grant. The park has been home to many famous residents over the years including Jackie Robinson and Babe Ruth. The first school in Kingsland opened in 1836 under teacher Elijah Woodruff Sr.. In 1870, students from DeKalb High School moved into present day Kingsland when their school burned down near Macon Avenue and Peachtree Street. That same year saw construction begin on what would become Ponce de Leon Boulevard which ran parallel to US Highway 85 for most of its length before turning northeast towards Marietta where it met I-285/I-85 South just outside Of Orchard Park village limits today’s suburb of Alpharetta
