The town was founded by Captain John Smith and his group of settlers who were looking for a new location to build their new colony. They landed on what is now the bank of the Chattahoochee River and named it after King George III of England. The first store inKingsland was started by Captains Smith and Rutherford in 1814. It was a small shop that sold goods such as clothing, seeds, and ammunition. As the town grew, so did its population and businesses. By 1827, there were six stores in Kingsland and over 200 people living there. In 1828, Captains Hartsfield and Smyth opened a hardware store in downtown Kingsland which became one of the most popular businesses in town. This store served as the center of trade for both locals and visitors toKingston during this time period. The store also played an important role in helping to grow the local economy by selling goods such as lumber, cotton seed oil, flour, potatoes, chickens etc.. By 1830-31, Merchants Hartsfield & Smyth had built two additions to their business - One at 222 North High Street which housed their large grocery/ provisions store; And another at 418 North High Street which housed their dry goods/ notions store . These two stores soon became known as "the Twin Monopolies" because they controlled all aspects of Kingsland's commercial life from start to finish In fact , they even donated land (now home to US Airways) on which the originalKingsland Courthouse stood . The courthouses operated continuously until 1971 when they were replaced by present day courthouse buildings . In addition , Merchants Hartsfield & Smyth ran a school adjacent to their stores that taught children how to get along with other citizens or make money through various trades including farming etc...This school has been closed down but remnants can still be seen today across from US Airways Headquarters

Kingsland is a small town in northeastern Georgia, United States. The population was 1,914 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Athens-Clarke County,Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area. Located in the Morehead City–Macon-Marietta Combined Statistical Area, Kingsland has a population of over 2 million people and is one of the most populous towns in metro Atlanta. Kingsland was founded by Georgians who migrated from what is now southeastern Alabama during the early 1800s. After several years of growth and development, Kingsland became a municipality on December 12, 1881. In 1915, it lost its charter as an incorporated municipality to become an unincorporated community within Clarke County under the name of Kingsland Park after then-Mayor James Pugh's donation to that effect. The first post office in Kingsland opened on October 24, 1892. A branch courthouse was built soon thereafter and opened on November 3rd; it remains our present courthouse today. mail service began with horse wagons until 1906 when an electrified system was installed and the current post office building (now known as District Court) replaced it. In 1916 Kingston College moved to its present location adjacent to High School just south of downtown Kingsland – becoming one of only two colleges located exclusively within a municipal jurisdiction in Cobb County at that time (the other being Kennesaw State University). The college had been founded by wealthy textile entrepreneur George Hines Phinney in 1913 as a women's college but due to financial difficulties closed down in 1918 with only 7 students enrolled; however, because it operated outside Cobb County’s municipal boundaries for so long no taxes were levied against it until 1951 when Kennesaw State merged into Georgia Tech which placed all entities within Fulton County and therefore retained Kingston College’s property tax exemption…..Today KCC education enjoys plenary support from both local officials including Mayor James Pugh himself who has personally donated many millions towards multiple expansions &modernizations including new Athletic Fields EstablishingKCCHospitality Village complete with 5 restaurants . . .
