The Air Force deployed a gift history in Kennesaw, Georgia on November 17, 1960. The gift was given by Lt. Col. Edward J. McMahon to Mrs. Della E. McConnell and their children as a thank you for their support during the Korean War. The family continued to live in Kennesaw until 1993 when they moved away from the city and into a new home. Mrs. McConnell passed away in 2013 and her son, Bruce McConnell, continues to give back to the community through his work at the local library and Children's Museum of Atlanta. In 2017, he donated $10,000 to help with renovations at the museum which is now known as Todd Park Library inside of Philips Arena complex in downtown Atlanta In 2019, Mrs. McConnell's grandson John Troup made an donation of $25,000 towards another renovation project at Todd Park Library which will include a new entranceway and education area for kids including interactive exhibits about different aspects of air force deployments throughout history

Kennesaw is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 33,839 at the 2010 census. Kennesaw is the county seat of Fulton County. It became a city on July 1, 1990. The first people to live in what is now Kennesaw were Native Americans who hunted and gathered game near present-day downtown Kennesaw. A post office called "Natchez" was established in 1814, but it was discontinued in 1815 due to the War of 1812. The town site was chosen by General Nathan Bedford Forrest because of its strategic location between Chattanooga and Atlanta. In addition to its strategic location, Kennesaw also had good transportation connections with surrounding communities. By 1840, there were about 100 residents living in the town limits of Kennesaw and more than 500 residents living within five miles (8 km) of the town limits. In 1846, General John Cushing put together a group of investors including James Mays and Andrew Johnson to build a railroad from Macon to Chattanooga through central Georgia; this project became known as the Nashville Railroad Company because most of its construction took place near Nashville, Tennessee. When it opened in September 1850, the network connected Atlanta with Chattanooga and many other cities across Georgia and South Carolina. After years of construction and testing, the railway reached Cobb Valley on November 3, 1860 – less than two weeks after Confederate forces surrendered at Appomattox Court House in Virginia. On December 12th 1860 during an election campaign for mayor against incumbent Michael Collins illegitimate due to his father's role as Secretary of War for Governor Joseph Easley (the future president), Nathan Bedford Forrest stood outside Cobb Hall court house waving a white flag while supporters fought back local militiamen inside until guards arrived with cannons who then fired into the air killing Forrest resulting in his death which set off riots that lasted into early January 1861 when General Robert Ewell ordered military police under Captain Arthur Hindman to restore order

Its name comes from General George Washington Carver's request for land for his slave colony in 1847. However, Kennesaw has experienced steady growth over the years and now ranks as one of the most diverse cities in America with more than 100% minority populations living within its borders.
