The Jesup Coffee Company was founded in 1892 by J.P. McCormick and his son, John A. McCormick. The company grew rapidly, producing a wide variety of coffee beans from various origins and regions. In 1924, the Jesup Coffee Company merged with the Welland Coffee Company to form the Welland-Jesup Corporation. Over time, the corporation became known for its high-quality coffee products and sold its products throughout Georgia and South Carolina. In 1970, the Jesup Coffee Corporation merged with the National Coffee Association to become a part of that organization's worldwide network of coffee companies
Jesup is a small town in the southeastern United States. It was founded in 1811 by General James Jesup and is located near the geographic center of Georgia. Jesup is known for its produce, dairy products, poultry, and logging industries. The town has a population of less than 10,000 people and lies within the Jesup Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Jesup was George Washington who built a cabin there in 1794. In 1811 General James Jesup arrived from Georgia with his family to found the town on handsome land purchase near what is now Dahlonega. The initial settlers were farmers but soon began to settle into logging and farming activities including raising chickens and cattle. After many years of hard work, some of the pioneer families developed their own homes and businesses around their farmsteads which continue to be an important part of local life today. The potato crop was one of the earliest crops grown hereabouts and continues to be an important commodity as well as employment for many residents today; recently it has been estimated that over 50% of all jobs in this small community are related to agriculture or forestry. Some other notable industries that have sprung up here include printing presses, sawmills, breweries (both light beer companies) as well as several textile companies which have helped support local trade throughout the years; until very recently most business hours were 9am-5pm EST Monday through Friday with only 1 hour per day off during school weekdays; these days however most businesses operate 7am-3pm EST Monday through Friday with no lunch breaks or overnight hours! The unique character of this small community can be seen from anywhere within its boundaries: when you drive down Main Street your headlights focus on periodical stores such as Farmer’s Markets along either side whileOpposite roadside stands selling ice cream cones & donuts appeal primarily to tourists! Today much like early pioneers who made this place their home, many descendants still live here full time enjoying active participation in local government services although nonresidential properties have become increasingly popular over recent years due both to increased access to education opportunities outside our nucleus (via various postsecondary institutions) while also providing more opportunities for openmindedness & creativity than ever before!
