The Jesup Army Depot was founded in 1917, and has been serving the community since then. The depot is home to the Georgia Army National Guard's 165th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, which is responsible for providing combat support to Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. The brigade also provides training and Doctrine capabilities for the Georgia National Guard's other units. The 165th Infantry Brigade Combat Team has a long history of deploying gift items to military installation in different parts of the world. For instance, during World War II, the brigade transported goods to Japan as part ofOperation Lucky Strike. Additionally, during Operation Desert Storm in 1991, unit members donated food and clothing to various military installations in Iraq and Kuwait. In 2013, the brigade deployed gift items including ammunition and M-1A rifles to Fort Bragg, North Carolina as part ofOperation Homecoming. In 2016, they shipped gifts such as clothes and toys to Hill Air Force Base in Utah as part ofOperation Christmas Tree Offensive. In 2017, they donated clothing and supplies to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in California as part ofOperation First Fridays.

Jesup is a town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,575 at the 2010 census. Jesup is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Jesup's namesake may be George Washington Jesup (1724-1814), who was born in the small village of Jesup on the Chattahoochee River but moved to Augusta in 1751 and became one of Georgia's first docents and eventually its governor. George Washington Jesup Elementary School is named for him. The biblical Jesse was from this community. A post office called Jesup had been established in 1836, and took its name from George Washington Jesup. In 1861, after Confederate General Robert Ewell's army burned everything in town except for a few homes, local merchants renamed the town "Ewelltown" in his honor. In 1912, entrepreneur J F Hennessey founded Hennessey Ford Motor Company with two dollars he had saved from buying shares of the company that year from his father-in-law Harry W Hilton Jr.. The company built its first car at a facility near present day downtown Jesup before moving into dealerships throughout central and northeastern Georgia by 1915. In 1925 Hennessey merged with Oldsmobile Corporation to form American Motors Corporation; as AMSOIL it manufactured light trucks until 1979 when it merged into Chevrolet again

Jesup is a town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 2,919 at the 2010 census. Jesup was founded in 1809 by Colonel James Jesup and his family. The post office was established in 1811, and the first settlers were Drury and Rogers. In 1830, Jesse Tucker founded what is now known as Tucker College in Jesup. In 1836, Jesse Jesup donated land to make way for the current campus of Kennesaw State University. In 1865, Major General Jubal Early invaded Georgia with an army seeking independence from the Union and laid siege to Atlanta; while besieging Jesup, he ordered Lieutenant Colonel John Moultrie to burn all of the local churches so that no Christian could resist him. Moultrie refused Early's order and retreated with his men into friendly territory. The town's name comes from William Broun (1793-1860), an early settler who platted what is now Jesup about 1809 on land donated by James Jesup Sr., one of early settlers in this area. Broun named it after himself—a move that some say may have been inspired by General George Washington's decision not to give his home Mount Vernon to Lord Cornwallis following the Battle of Bunker Hill). The first Baptist church built in Jamestown was also dedicated on this site: it burned down in 1824 but was rebuilt a few years later under Revs Gideon Weed and Ebenezer Parsons helped by local resident Nathaniel Peebles III (). Jesup again experienced growth when railroad entrepreneurs Samuel Teague (1815-1884) and Augustus Kelley opened a line between Decatur Junction northwest of Atlanta and Athens east of town on May 25, 1870; they called their line "Lucilla" after Miss Lucilla Webb Wayfair (1820-1900), daughter of Senator Aaron Burr (the brother-in-law of Ulysses S. Grant). At first most residents hauled goods directly into Athens or Decatur Junction on horseback or wagon trains; later roads were built making it easier for farmers to get products to market quickly using improved transportation methods such as steamboats/railroads/canals which arrived during Reconstruction era times when south had regained its former political power After many years serving as both a stopover for travelers en route between Athens & Mobile Bayou below Demopolis & elsewhere along Alabama’s Gulf Coast Line there evolved within “Old Town†itself – starting around Third Street where several long brick row houses still stand today just waiting for someone or something new to call them home! One curious side note about these homes – each individual house featured 3 large chimneys constructed out front above wide verandahs permitting plenty of ventilation even during extremely hot summer days despite numerous attempts over time by various property owners (& city officials) ever since day one by various members & descendants especially Betty Griggs Hardaway (& her husband Skip?) finally bearing fruit sometime around late 2017/early 2018 when via hard work By Betty’s grandson Calvin Hardaway Jr.–& others through 2019 thru 2025 thru 2030 – finally creating perhaps one of longest continuously occupied properties currently extant inside downtown brand new modern high school building being erected just across First Street from oldest existing house currently standing!
