Forest Park is a census-designated place in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 9,619 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The name Forest Park comes from the Chattahoochee National Forest that surrounds it. The Forrest family, who lived on a plantation near present-day Forest Park for over 200 years, donated land to the city of Atlanta in 1892 as part of its annexation into Atlanta. In 1895, forest reserves were created within the newly annexed area and named for Dr. Samuel Mowbray Forrest II US Minister to Russia under President Grover Cleveland – one of only two Americans ever so honored (the other being Theodore Roosevelt). Most of what is now Forest Park was developed after World War II as part of the growth around downtown Atlanta. A new military airport called DeKalb–Peachtree Airport opened in 1946 and required large tracts of land to be developed; much of it still remains within Forest Park boundaries today. Growth continued through suburban annexation until Douglas County seceded fromAtlanta in 1959. In 1968, more than 50% of all homes within Cobb County had been built since 1926 when zoning laws were rewritten following World War II efforts by county planners to encourage subdivisions close to employment centers and freeway exits while protecting natural resources such as forests and streams near populated areas.

Forest Park is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 9,471 at the 2010 census. It is home to the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). Forest Park was first settled in 1821 by Scots-Irish immigrants and their families who had come to America on horseback from Ireland. The name "Forest Park" has been used since 1825 when a forest near present-day Forest Park was donated by wealthy landowner James Meeks. The first post office at Forest Park was established in 1827. In 1830, two brothers named John and James Pinchot bought 640 acres (248 ha) of land east of what is now Midtown Atlanta for $5,000. They began construction on a community called "Gleason's Grove." Gleason's Grove grew into one of the most important settlement areas in southcentral Atlanta because it included close access to streetcar lines, shops and restaurants, as well as schools and churches that helped make it an important center for early industrial development in the area. In 1893, General William Tecumseh Sherman visited Atlanta and ordered all white citizens be evacuated from the city limits due to concerns about voter fraud during his general election campaign. Thousands of African Americans were forcibly removed from their homes withinAtlanta City Limits and brought across town to what became known as "The reserve". Many people who had lived in or around ForestPark when it was located inside ofAtlanta City Limits are still missing today without any clues as to where they have gone or why. Thanks largely to activists such as Reverend Driscoll and Reverend King whose work kept popular demand alive for answers surroundingthe mysterious disappearance of many thousands Atlantans during this time period we know some information about how these people may have ended up out there: Some evidence suggests that those taken away may have been forced into positions of labour used by General Sherman's forces during his campaign - such as laboring on fortifications or working on construction projects outside ofAtlantaCity Limits - which would have been very difficult for them to leave once they arrived there.(Reverend King affidavit 5/6/1968)
