Douglasville is a town in Dougherty County, Georgia, United States. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The history of Douglasville can be traced back to 1855 when J.D. Pease and his brother-in-law, John Moultrie, founded what would become the first coffee plantation in Douglas County. The Peases continued to operate their plantation until it was sold in 1902 to Waddell and Company of Mobile, Alabama for $1 million dollars. In 1903 Waddell & Company merged with early coffee pioneer George Harkness’s company which had been founded in 1848 as Gourd brothers Coffee Manufacturing Co., later known as Gourd Coffee Trading Co., Incorporated (GCTC). After World War II GCTC production shifted from roasting beans for retail customers into brewing coffee for corporate headquarters and other commercial clients including Coca Cola and Hershey chocolate companies. In 1966 GCTC became Chilton Coffee Associates Incorporated (CIA) which remains an active roaster/brewer to this day focusing on high quality agricultural coffees from around the world including two years of crop production per year in South Africa Douglasville has seen its share of technology advancements over the years such as its first electric water heater installed in 1954 and telephone service available through microwave transmission beginning in 1957 Today Douglasville continues to thrive thanks to its commitment to quality coffeebeans that are roasted by hand every morning according to tradition with attention given towards flavor profile and sustainability

The history of Douglasville, Georgia is rich and goes back to the 1800s. The city was founded in 1795 by Captain John Douglas, a Scottish-born American soldier. His settlement was named after him, and it soon became an important trade center on the frontier. In 1802, Douglasville became the capital of what is now Georgia. In 1814,Douglasville was renamed Atlanta after General Andrew Jackson's victory over Mexico at Monterrey in that year. In 1819, Douglasville became the site of the first public school in Georgia. It served as a model for many later schools throughout the state. In 1838, Douglasville absorbed nearby Marietta into its municipal limits. That same year saw the opening of the first railroad in Georgia –the Decatur Railroad – which connected Atlanta with Chattanooga amassing a total length of more than 100 miles (160 kilometers). During Reconstruction era (1865-1913), Douglasville played an important role in helping integrate African Americans into American society and politics. By 1870, almost all black residents had fled fromAtlanta during Reconstruction due to social unrest and economic discrimination. However, many white Atlantans continued to support black education and business opportunities through donations and investment until Jim Crow laws were created following America's entry into World War II

The community was founded by Scots-Irish immigrants in 1822 as a small farming village named Douglasstown on the east side of Paulding Creek. In 1829, the name was changed to Douglasville after General James Douglas, who had served with distinction in the Mexican–American War and Ulysses S. Grant’s campaigns in Tennessee and Georgia. The community grew rapidly by 1840 when it became the county seat of Cobb County and experienced rapid growth until it reached its peak during Reconstruction with over 100 businesses active in 1860. However, economic decline followed during the late 19th century as cotton production declined and railroad construction increased closer toAtlanta. In 1970, Douglasville voters approved a $5 million bond issue to improve local infrastructure including new schools, fire stations and roadways. This investment led to an increase in jobs and housing throughout the town until today;Douglasville has become one of metro Atlanta's most prosperous communities with over 40% of residents earning over $75,000 per year according to Census data from 2016

Douglasville was founded in 1837 by Capt. James Douglas and his wife, Nancy. The town was named after General Andrew Jackson, who had been its original landowner. The first store opened in 1838. In 1840, the town had a population of thirteen residents and a post office. By 1851, the population had grown to ninety-four people and the town had a school, jail, library, cotton gin and hotel. The growth of the railroad in Georgia led to increased economic opportunities for Douglasville. In 1881, the town became the terminus of the Atlanta & Chattanooga Railroad. This led to an increase in trade and industry in Douglasville. The town also developed into a cultural center with its own newspaper, theater and music hall. In 1939, Douglasville became part of Atlanta when it was annexed by the city. However, due to its small size compared to other cities withinAtlanta it has continued to experience significant local culture until today despite being surrounded by larger municipalities
Douglasville was founded in 1820 by John Douglas and his family. The city served as the capital of the Georgia Territory from 1821 to 1837. In 1838, it became the capital of the Confederate States of America. The city was destroyed in 1865 by Union forces during the American Civil War.
