The Doraville, Georgia National Guard was founded on Dec. 5, 1861. It originally consisted of 10 men and women who served in the Georgia Militia. The guard was first authorized to consist of up to 100 men and women but only 50 were ever organized.
Doraville, Georgia is a small town in the U.S. state of Georgia. The population was 1,873 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. According to the 2010 census, the racial makeup of Doraville was 98% white and 0% black. The town began as a settlement on a grant from James Acuff in 1785. In 1802, it became an incorporated town under federal law and by 1827 had a population of 3,752 people. At that time, it was one of nine townships within detached threw McIntosh County westward from Atlanta into which Doraville Township had been annexed in 1827-28. Doraville's growth slowed during Reconstruction; its population peaked at 9,083 in 1920 but declined to 7,906 by 1930 due to Prohibition and labor shortages caused by World War I and World War II both domestically and abroad. Its population again reached 8,500 in 1960 before declining again to 7,500 after 1990 when suburbanization accelerated in central AtlantaKaren Armstrong wrote about "the power dynamics of suburbia", noting that "Doraville [...] found itself increasingly outnumbered by more recent arrivals who were not interested or able to invest money or time into maintaining their own homes." A new housing development called Midtown Village was started just east of town on what are now Farmers Branch Drive and Old Hickory Road in 1990; this replaced an older housing development called Winter Park which had been built around 1940 on land that once contained Midtown Village developments as well as other businesses and houses used for agricultural purposes until they were sold off to developers in the late 1980s when transportation infrastructure improved so they could be developed for residential use instead

Doraville, Georgia is a town in Cobb County, Georgia, United States. The population was 569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Doraville was laid out in 1864 by John Prentice and James Cagle. The town began as a small farming community on the Chattahoochee River near what is now Sandy Springs. In 1881, Doraville became an incorporated town with a population of 100 people. The first store in town was built in 1885 by J.C. Ladd and Averill Hargrave. In 1903, the first school was built in Doraville and it served students from kindergarten to grade 12 until 1957 when it closed due to budget cuts by then-Governor Ernest Bailey. In 1909, baseball started being played in Doraville and has been played there ever since; it currently features two teams: the Red Sox/Brewers (of Milwaukee) and the Braves/Athletics (of Atlanta). In 1954, Eisenhower signed Executive Order No 7491 which ordered all public schools across America to allow extracurricular activities such as athletics within their curriculums if they were deemed beneficial to student development or moral growth
