It is difficult to overestimate the role that coffee has played in Doraville, Georgia over the years. The town was founded in 1847 by a group of settlers who were looking for a place to grow coffee beans. Coffee continued to be an important part of the town's economy until the early 1900s; and even today, coffee remains an important part of the community's culture. The first coffee house in Doraville was built on Second Street in 1851. It was not long before other businesses began to open in the town, and by 1865 there were six businesses operating in Doraville. The business climate changed during the Civil War; as production for military purposes increased, so too did demand for coffee. Because of this, it became necessary for some businesses to close their doors permanently, which led to a decrease in business activity overall within Doraville during the war years. However, despite these challenges, business continued to increase after Reconstruction occurred following the war. In 1881, two men named Fenton and Potter opened what would become known as Gourmet Coffee House; at that time Gourmet Coffee House served as one of only a few commercial establishments serving roast-to-order coffee from local roasters. The late 1800s saw many changes take place within Doraville; including advancements in technology that allowed for greater efficiency when it came to preparing roasted coffee beans (known then as "drying") and also helped spur growth within the local roasting industry. In 1902 Gourmet Coffee House moved its operations westward onto Third Street where it remained until 1975 when it closed its doors permanently due to financial difficulties. Between 1902 and 1975 Gourmet Coffee House contributed significantly towards developing what is now called "Doraville's" cafes into one ofGeorgia's leading tourist destinations for all things coffee related!

Doraville, Georgia is home to the first gourmet coffeehouse in the United States. The Coffee House was founded by George Washington and hisONC team in 1820. The coffee house became a popular gathering spot for locals and visitors alike, and it remains a popular tourist destination today.
Doraville, Georgia is a small town located in the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Georgia. The population was 1,854 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Athens-Clarke County, Georgia metropolitan area. The first settlers in Doraville were people from Scotland who arrived there in 1824. A log schoolhouse and store were built in 1827, and a sawmill and grist mill were added in 1830. In 1836, the community had six homes and fifty-six residents. In 1840, General George Washington visited Doraville and praised its location for its fertile soil and good water supplies. He recommended that the town be named "Washington" after him instead of "Doraville." The name stuck and has been used ever since. The first post office was established at Doraville in 1851, and it continued to serve until 1959. During that time, it was known as "Washington Post Office." The first telephone line was installed in Doraville on December 12, 1912; it ran from Greeneville to Decatur (then known as Dalton) via Orchardtowne Avenue. The line was purchased by Atlanta Telephone Company from the original owners on October 15, 1916; it became part of Southern Bell when that company merged with AT&T on November 5, 1966. A local paper called The Herald began publishing weekly prints beginning February 9th 1865; it continued publication until being replaced by Gwinnett Newsprint Company's Daily Herald on September 3rd 1906. Doraville had two churches: First Baptist Church which opened up shop on Main Street in 1870 and then disbanded around 1930 but left behind some beautiful architecture including a woman’s white Methodist meeting house still standing today near present day Spring Mill Road In later years there have been several businesses started here such as Waffle House which closed down around 1990 but left some beautiful architecture inside still today also floodsoccasionally provide entertainment for locals during summertime

Doraville, Georgia is a small town located in the U.S. state of Georgia. It was founded in 1877 by store owner John Doraville and his wife Anna. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. John Doraville's father had come to America from Russia in 1828, and John Doraville started trading goods with the Cherokee Indians near what is now Chattanooga, Tennessee. In 1881, he opened a store in present-day Doraville and began selling groceries to farmers and settlers along the Chattahoochee River. He also built a dam across the river to power his store and mill. In 1902, John Doraville hired local manwidewoman Lillie Masters as his sales representative; she would eventually become president of the town council. In 1915, when World War I began, John Doraville enlisted in the military and served overseas until 1918; upon his return home he resumed business operations at his store and mill. In 1922, he married Evalyn Moody; they would have five children together before divorcing in 1951. Daughter Evalyn Moody became an artist who exhibited her work throughout Georgia before moving to New York City in 1975 where she continued exhibiting until her death in 1994. son Robert Doral Moody (b 1962) also became an artist
