In 1881, a group of Italians founded what would become the world's first Italian-owned coffee shop in Atlanta. Over time, other Italian-owned cafes followed suit throughout the Southeast. By 1937, Coffee House was operating out of twelve locations across five states. In 1951, the business closed its Atlanta outpost but continued operations in Savannah and Norfolk until 1984 when it reopened as a single store at 404 Linn Ave NW in Covington. Covington, Georgia is a small town in north-central Georgia. It is the county seat of Coffee County. The population was 6,651 at the 2010 census. Covington is located on the Chattahoochee River and has a humid subtropical climate. The first settler in what would become Covington was James Fenton in 1814. He named his farm "Fenton's Ferry" after himself and his brother-in-law, John Fenton. In 1820, John Fenton's son, George Washington Fenton purchased from James Fenton land around present day Covington for $2 per acre. In 1827, George Washington Fenton erected the first white house in what would become Covington when he built the now abandoned mansion known as "Fenton's Ferry". In 1829, three men - Jeptha Hutchinson (a lawyer), Ira Allen (a blacksmith) and William Henson (a farmer) - bought 640 acres of land from J.D. Morgan for $10 per acre to build a new village on the Chattahoochee River opposite present day Decatur Junction on Phenix City road between Five Forks Creek Road and Cedar Shoals Creek Road (now US 26). They named their village "Covetingston". The first post office was established in Covetingston on March 12, 1830 with Wm Henson as postmaster. The townspeople constructed two churches: First Baptist Church which was dedicated November 8th 1830 by General David Amherst and Second Baptist Church which was dedicated December 14th 1830 by Colonel David Macon Sr.. On July 10th 1840 Andrew Johns set up a stagecoach stop called "Johns' Depot" nearpresent day Decatur Junction on current US 26 just west of Five Forks Creek Road between Cedar Shoals Creek Road & Phenix City road to provide transportation for traders travelling through Coffee County looking for goods available only within their own county or those exported from other counties in south central Georgia

Today, Covington is home to several museums including the Johnston Museum of Art and History and Kennesaw State University's Samuel Naylor Library on Patton Avenue. The town also has a few businesses such as Pizza Hut and Jiffy Lube along with some small housing developments such as Ironwood Estates development near downtown.
