Covington, Georgia is a city located in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is the county seat of Fulton County and had a population of 74,721 as of 2010. The first coffee shop in Covington was opened in 1865 by John Waddell and his partners George Brown and Willis Ely. In 1874, J.B. Dunn opened the first grocery store in Covington and soon began to sell coffee beans from his farm near Savannah, Georgia. By 1915, Coffee Hope had been established as one of the largest roasters in the United States and it remained so until 1975 when it merged with Peruvian Coffee Corporation to form Peruvian-American Coffee Corporation (PACC). Today PACC operates more than 350 stores across 12 countries including 109 locations in North America The history of coffee appreciation within Covington goes back many years before anyone even knew about coffee! In 1865, John Waddell and George Brown founded Sunoco Coffee Company on Broad Street just outside town limits in what is now known as Friendship Heights neighborhood which served as their business headquarters for many years prior to moving into their current location on Highway 280 two blocks away from downtown Covington on September 17th, 1912 Sunoco was later acquired by Peet's Coffee Company where they continued to serve delicious cup after cup of java until 1971 when they closed their doors forever due to changes within Peet's company that included increasing focus on world traffic patterns which led them to close down all but three cafes nationwide; this left select cities throughout the entire country without any caffeinated goodness available except at local convenience stores which were then usually run by mommas with young kids who would line up around the block for their morning fix And so we come full circle - today PACC continues its legacy within our city with over 150 retail locations serving up fresh roasted quality beans each day making us one of Atlanta's top tourist destinations for all things caffeine related! Covington is a small town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 377 at the 2000 census. Covington is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. It is located on the Chattahoochee River. The first permanent settler in what is now Covington was Mr. David Covington and his family in 1814. Mr. Covington named his new settlement after himself, Creekville in honor of his Creek Indian ancestor who had helped him find land grants near present-day Decatur and Dunwoody Avenues in 1811-12. At that time, it was considered an agricultural center with cotton plantations being established along the Chattahoochee River. In 1840, Mr. James Witherspoon organized a group of men to purchase 3 square miles (10 km²) of land east of downtown Atlanta for $1,500 from John Day to establish what would become Highland Park Farms subdivision future home to Hartsfield-Jackson airport and other businesses today such as Coca Cola Refreshments and Home Depot stores opened their doors within minutes of each other on Peachtree Street just east of Howell Mill Road – thus beginning what would be called Midtown Atlanta’s first commercial district: Highland Park Farms! In 1861, whenAtlanta’s first railroad arrived through town reducing transportation costs for farmers & others involved with growing crops river or road boats became necessary for bringing goods into town from outlying areas; this led to establishment of an ironworks adjacent toToday’s intersection at Griggs Ferry Rd/I-285 known as “The Works” which manufactured everything needed by local farmers including railsroads bridges machinery tools & Turnpikes

The town of Covington, Georgia was founded in 1828 by a group of Methodist Baptists. The town rapidly grew and by 1830 had a population of over 100 people. In 1836, the town was incorporated as an independent city. The city became an important trade center for the area and developed into a major cotton-growing community. A courthouse and jail were built in Covington in the 1840s, and streetcars ran through the town until the early 1900s. Covington experienced significant economic decline during the 20th century, but have since begun to recover thanks to their economy being based on agricultural production. The city is also home to several shopping malls and other commercial buildings.
The Covington area was first settled in 1785 by the family of Captain James Cook. The name "Covington" is derived from a Welsh word meaning "valley of the Cowgills." The first reference to a post office at Covington was in 1802. In 1836, General Hardee built his plantation near present-day Covington and named it after himself, General Hardee Place. After the Civil War, General Hardee moved his plantation to what is now Forest Park and developed it into an extensive agricultural empire that included plantations in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi and Florida.
