Cordele is a city in southeastern Georgia, United States. The population was 16,868 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Cordele County. The city is located on the Chattahoochee River and has a population density of . The area that would become Cordele was first settled by the Cherokee people in the late 18th century. In 1794, James McGillivray established what became known as McGillivray's Station on the Chattahoochee River. By 1800, cordial relations existed between Creek Indians and white settlers so much so that McGillivray offered to sell land to any individual who could agree to not make war with the Creeks. One such settler was John Wesley Powell, who purchased from McGillivray a tract of land east of present day Cordele for $2 per acre (and changed its name to "Powell's Station"). In 1825, Captain William Troup founded another station on what would become downtown Cordele – this time lasting until 1840 when it burned down due to flooding from the nearby Alabama River. In 1847–48, following General Andrew Jackson's victory in the Mexican American War, Tennessee elected General James K. Polk President of America; as a result of his election duties Polk traveled through Georgia and neighboring states in search of Indian removal treaties which he believed were being violated by local officials. On September 9th1847 while travelling through Coffee County (now part of Marietta) Polk met with Creek Chief Oconee at Fort Ross on Putnam Fork Creek; upon learning that Polk planned to remove all Native Americans living within ten miles (16 km) of Chattanooga he warned his fellow chiefs but no action was taken against those traveling through or residing near Atlanta or Smyrna along Interstate 285 southbound towards Chattanooga After returning home Polk appointed General David Ewell as Superintendentof Indian Affairs in order to more effectively enforce Removal Proposals made during his travels throughout Georgia; however many Creek Chiefs still refused Removal because they wanted their ancestral lands back including Oconee Although some chiefs did finally give up their land after being promised compensation half-million dollars each it doesn't appear that all Creek Chiefs took advantage of this opportunity Some Cherokees did move westward into Oklahoma after Removal began while others moved north into central Arkansas where they formed several small villages before eventually dying outvironnmentally around 1900 Cordele Experiences during WWII: During World War II there were few civilians living within city limits since most residents either worked for military forces or had relatives working for them; nonetheless citizens experienced bombings and jamming noise emanating from nearby airfields which often interfered with daily activities
In 1917, the US military established the Air Force to provide a force for strategic bombing of enemy targets. The first USAF unit was activated in October 1918 when a squadron of P-51 Mustangs was ordered to bomb German airfields in Belgium and France. The following year, the First World War ended with victory for the Allies and America began its involvement in the war by forming several Army Air Forces branches: I Bomber Command, II Bomber Command, III Bomber Command, and Ninth Air Force. In 1941, VIII Bomber Command was created as a wing within RAF England to support AmericanAAF bombers attacking Nazi Germany. On 3 May 1942, General George C Marshall designated USAFE (United States Army Forces Europe) as an operational command structure responsible for all Allied air forces stationed in Europe as well as providing technical advice to allied commanders on strategic bombing operations. The Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Air Forces (HAPE) was also formed under this command structure with responsibility for all Allied bomber units operating in European airspace except those belonging to RAF Fighter Command which were under control of RAF tactical commands. By 1945, the number of USAF squadrons had reached 1,500 while HAPE had grown into an organization containing 8 divisions and 400 squadrons totaling over 25,000 men supporting NATO aerial warfare activities. The first global deployments of USAF fighters occurred during Operation Overlord when Task Force 77 flew missions from Britain against Nazi Germany’s southern supply lines; these operations continued until 9 November 1944 when all flights were cancelled due to bad weather conditions over Normandy. From then on until the end of hostilities in Europe in 1945 there were no international deployments of USAF aircraft other thanOperation Neptune’s Spear which involved flying reconnaissance missions over Japan from Okinawa; these flights lasted from 15 September 1945 until 20 December 1945.]] AFTER THE END OF WORLD WAR II: A MULTI-Faceted INVESTIGATION INTO AEROSPACE ACTIVITY BY THE AMERICAN FOUNDATION FOR DEFENSE ACQUISITION AND DEVELOPMENT On 8 May 1946 pursuant to President Harry S Truman's Executive Order 9169 he created United States Air Force Reserve Components consisting of fighter pilot training schools called "Temporary Service Units" or TSU's equipped with Curtiss P-40N Thunderbolts that would be used temporarily during peacetime periods such as during reconstruction after World War II had ended so that pilots could gain practical experience before being sent back into active duty.[1] This order marked an expansion of AFNORC's role beyond pure air defense since it authorized participation by other military services through use of reserve componentsiliary organizations including Marine Corps Reserve Units attached directly to AFNORC headquarters,[2] National Guard Bureau Reserve Units[3], Tactical Air Command Reserve Units[4], and Aeronautical Weapons Development Center Reserve Unit[5]. It should be noted that while reserve aviation capabilities were initially limited only to fighter pilots instructor training schools Idleness No More! became operational on 30 June 1946 at Malmstrom AFB Kansas Territory with Boeing B-29 Superfortress jet bombers using AFNORC facilities both locales having been leased at low cost from Boeing owned factory lands leased back again by Washington Mutual Insurance Company through their subsidiary Northwest Airways Corporation

Cordele is a town in Grayson County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,564 at the 2010 census. Cordele is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what is now Cordele was Nicholas "Nick" Cook in 1827. Cook married Sarah Hinson and they moved to the area that is now Cordele from Athens, Georgia. They had four children: Nicholas (1829-1910), John (1831-1895), Emily (1833-1912) and Jameson (1835-1900). In 1840, Nicholas' father died and he inherited land in what is now Cordele from him. After his father's death, Nick left home to start anew with his new family and started a small farmstead on section 28 of what would become known as Holmes Township. He also continued to attend Athens College where he studied law until 1851 when he opened his own law office in Athens. In 1852, cordeleros banded together to purchase their own means of transportation so they could better trade goods with other settlements within their region. This became known as the "Cordelle Railroad". The railroad arrived just in time for the growing cotton industry so cordeleros were able to sell their products directly to buyers without having them transported away by wagonloads of other settlers or merchants who bought these items at auction and then sold them back home again. The first post office was established in Cordele on April 15, 1850 by Jno Crouchick under the name "Annandale". It served as a stop on the Underground Railroad for fugitives from slave states during the antebellum period. In 1861 when Confederate General Robert Ewell crossed into northern Georgia near Griffinville; cordeleros took up arms against him providing initial support before later withdrawing due to lack of food supplies and munitions following Ewell's retreat upstream towards Marietta Junction where Union troops were waiting for him along Withlacoochee River As times changed during Reconstruction such as increased violence across America; many residents decided it would be best if they left Georgia altogether rather than live through another decade of Reconstruction which saw those same problems brought about by former Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest while he still held power over much of south central Georgia Nick Cook returned after being released from prison in 1865 settled down on section 5of Holmes township with 12 children barnstorming around country picking cotton higlighting every place possible old plantations including one called White Sands which had been used by white men only for sex slavery until emancipation years earlier things have taken a natural course returnin 1967 Nick passed away leaving 3 daughters 4 grandsons
