It is with great pride that the Conyers Marine Gift Shop proudly welcomes its first anniversary this year. The shop was started by two friends, Jim and Tammy, in early 2003 as a way to support their local maritime community. From then on, the shop has been an invaluable resource for residents of Conyers and the surrounding area when it comes to marine gifts. The shop’s history goes back even further than that though. In 1974, when Jim was a young man working at the grocery store down the street from his family’s home, he noticed a large cooler filled with bottles of gasoline parked in front of the store. He thought it would be a great idea to set up a sales stand inside the store and sell fuel-consumed items like candy bars and cigarettes. It wasn’t long before Jim had turned into one of Conyers’ most successful merchants. Jim has always been passionate about supporting maritime communities and he continues to contribute his time and money to various causes related to fishing, sailing, boating and other maritime activities. In recent years, he has also become involved in giving back to the community through donations towards local charities. This year marks his 5th consecutive year donating at least 50 percent of all sales income back into charitable coffers!

The history of Marine Gifts in Conyers, Georgia goes back to the 1920s when businesspeople from Atlanta bought and operated a store called The Marinemart. The store was located on Pryor Street in downtown Conyers. In the early 1930s, the business moved to its current location on Randolph Avenue and began selling items related to marine life and fishing. In the late 1940s, the store became known as an outlet for Atlantean Trading Company which sold Japanned products. After Atlantean Trading Company went out of business, The Marinemart continued to sell marine gifts until it closed in 1985.
conyers is a small town in the Georgia mountains. The population was 9,753 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Fulton County, and it is also the largest city in Fulton County by population. The city is located on the north side of Atlanta and is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The first European to visit Conyers was Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1524. He named it after his friend, Nicholas Conte della Città di Roma (1495-1551), who had visited America two years earlier. In 1801, General Andrew Jackson discovered what became known as "Jackson's Mill" while exploring Congaree National Park northwest of Conyers. This mill helped create a local industry which continued until World War II when fabric production shifted to other areas due to wartime shortages of materials. In 1875, Judge John Rankin donated land for a courthouse and schoolhouse in what is now downtown Conyers. A year later, he donated an additional three acres for a Masonic temple which still stands today as one of Conyers' most popular attractions. In 1889, United States Senator James Mosely purchased land east of Court Street between Second Avenue and Dunwoody Road for use as a town square or local government center; this site remains at its present location today within downtown Conyers limits. On November 3, 1865, during Reconstruction following Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, Confederate soldiers under General Nathan Bedford Forrest burned down several buildings including Reverends Gadsden Baptist Church and First Presbyterian Church south of Court Street in what remain today parts of Stone Mountain Cemetery east of Interstate 85 near Roswell Road (the original home addresses). One account has it that these attacks were retribution for the burning down of homes by Union forces less than three weeks earlier during Major Robert E Howard's raid on Athens seeking Confederate arms supplies; another account has it that these buildings served as headquarters for Forrest's commando unit during this time period A new courthouse was built just east of Main Street between Third Avenue and Ponce de Leon Boulevard in 1904 with funding from Governor Alphonse Jones Jr.. This building served as both the courtrooms used by magistrates and also housed the jail until 1966 when it closed due to budget cuts statewide ; subsequent repairs have not been able to restore its former grandeur Moses Malone played football at Grady College before entering professional football with Buffalo All-Americans where he would become one halfback on two Super Bowl champion teams (1948 & 1951). After playing eight seasons with Buffalo he signed with Boston American Football Club where he led them to their first championship game appearance since 1936 The current arena opened in 1995 adjacent to Grady College Stadium across from Philips Arena which hosted such luminaries as LeBron James (2005) , Tiger Woods (2007) , Serena Williams (2009) و Dennis Rodman(2010) . As well as numerous concerts throughout the year including Faith Hill (), Whitney Houston (), Usher (), Bon Iver () et al . On July 16th 2017 Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras visited city hall intent on gaining support against rising taxes being levied by Mayor Kasim Reed
