Although other large American cities have more populous populations (San Francisco has 1197 people per square mile [540 hectares] while New York City has 1171), all three Atlanta metropolitan areas have populations that are above 500,000 residents (Atlanta: 449,617; San Francisco: 1030 persons per square mile [320 hectares]; and Chicago: 653 person per square mile [240 hectares]). Conyers' rich history can be traced back to 1798 when James Conyer donated land to make way for new roads through hisviage southward from Augusta Township in 1794-95 after he lost his home during Indian War fighting near Augusta Creek Dam on February 25th that year according to “A History of Fulton County” by Wm Halsey Fenton which also says that George Washington leased 1/4 acre (0.16 hectare) from James Conyer for 30 years beginning December 3rd 1796 at $1/year payable on March 1st each year thereafter). According to this document "the patent shows 0 acres were sold by subscription January 8th 1800 Total Value $3000". From these early days through much later there are references to many notable citizens including James Moultrie who served as Mayor from 1835-41 & John Swain who served as Mayor from 1840-45." One such reference mentions David Williamson who built an iron works here about 1800 which went bankrupt but continued operation until about 1830 under another name before being closed down due to competition by Andrew Walker & others." Jr Moultrie also participated in founding School District #2 which first opened its doors September 12th 1850 having been organized November 9th 1848." Many famous immigrants moved into this area such as Joseph Pulitzer Sr., Mary Gilmore Lewisohn Pryor and Drury Lane Theater founder Harry Laughlinwho came originally from Wales via Savannah then taught school hereabouts." Some streets such as Ponce de Leon Boulevard lead out into their namesake creek where they grew up playing tag or fishing downstream while others like Dunwoody Road continue farming country lanes today while still bearing some street names connected with this time period including Jacob Goode Place where ATP now stands." With these many examples throughout town deeds dating back centuries why not just call it 'Jameson'? After all he was pretty active politically hereabouts& probably helped contribute significantly too!" Conyers is the county seat of Fulton County and home to the only courthouse on the east coast of Georgia. The first post office in Conyers was established on July 3, 1837. The community of Conyers began as a small farming village located about six miles northeast of present day Conyers on what is now known as Old Highway 55. A school for black children opened in this location in 1854 and by 1865 all white students had been expelled from the local schools. In that year an agreement was made between General Jackson and Governor Andrew Johnson to set aside 1,000 acres (400 hectares) along Cobb Road as a public park for white residents and colored residents who would work off their passage to America on steamboats or railroad cars. Work started immediately on completing this park which was named Dooley Park after Confederate Brigadier General James Doolittle Dooley who fought at Bull Run during that pivotal battle of November 11–12, 1861. In 1886 when Atlanta became its permanent capital new streets were built through downtown serving as connector corridors linking different parts of the city with each other Additionally two banks were built adjacent to Paulding Street Railway Station – First National Bank and Guaranty Trust Company – both still standing today providing essential banking services for citizens until reactivated by Federal Reserve Banks during Recession years in 2008-2009 In 1908 Drury’s Drug Store & Saloon (later renamed The Gadsden Inn), one mile east of downtown served as a social center for African American citizens living near downtown . This building remains extant today next door to Hawkins Baptist Church also serving similarly functioned until recently during economically challenging times . Also significant northsouth corridor connecting downtown core with surrounding rural areas bypassing central business district -extending from Second Avenue southward past current day Beltline Drive southeastward bisected by Etowah Boulevard -was developed concurrently with City Hall expansion plans across jurisdictional boundaries including establishment of Division Street/Highway 50 northwest side within city limits paralleling existing northsouth alley extending southeastward from First Avenue into Marion County
