The Chamblee area was a military outpost during the American Revolution and it was from here that supplies were brought into the war effort. The town got its name from General James Ewell, who commanded the Cavalry Brigade of General Nathanael Greene's army during the siege of Savannah. After the war, many of these soldiers returned home and started businesses in Chamblee. The first store in town opened in 1809 and soon there were several others popping up around town. By 1827, there were five stores operating in Chamblee. During World War II, many naval officers came to live in Chamblee and it became an important stop on their travels. Many artifacts from this time period are still present today including sailors' uniforms and even a boat used for fishing!

The Naval Air Station Dahlgren in Chamblee, Georgia was the first naval air station in the United States. It was established on December 15, 1918, as an auxiliary airstrip for torpedoboats and other ships moored at the Naval Base at Dahlgren. The original hangar was destroyed by fire in 1922. A new hangar was built, and the station became a full naval air station on May 1, 1925. On October 1, 1930, it became part of the Naval Forces Command. In 1948 it became part of the Navy Department and on July 21, 1951 it moved to Dahlgren Harbor effective from that date. The naval air station closed on September 30th 1957 after which it continued to be used as a storage area for munitions until 1969 when it reopened as an airport with civilian use and remains that way today
Chamblee, Georgia is a small town located in Muscatine County, Iowa. The population was 1,482 at the 2010 census. Chamblee is part of the Quad Cities Metropolitan Area. The first people to live in Chamblee were the Mennonites who came from Germany in 1847. They built a log cabin on Big Creek and named it after their patron saint, Mary. After a few years they left for good because of religious differences. In 1875, John Sibley founded the Sibley Glass Works in Chamblee and became one of its largest shareholders. In 1902 he sold his interest to George Wirth and continued to run the business until his death in 1966. In 1906 Gertrude Sibley married Senator James Fenton of Iowa and died three years later. They are buried at Mount Carmel Cemetery in West Union, Iowa. In 1916 Maurice McCarthy opened the first grocery store in what is now Chamblee with twelve shelves and fifty-four registers full of groceries from Ireland, England, Canada, Italy, Norway and other parts of Europe which he imported direct from these areas by boat or train each week during summertime when goods were cheap because World War I was going on. The United States operated two ships, HMS Constitution and USS Pocahontas, outfitted with cannons as part of their deterrent against French aggression. From 1812-1821, President James K. Polk awarded vessels to various navies based on their contribution to U.S interests during the War of 1812 and then in support of Mexican efforts during the American-Mexican War (1846-48). For example, USS Constitution was given to Chilean Naval Captain Manuel de la Cueva y Valdivia in 1812 after he had saved Thousands of Americans from capture by Mexico during its invasion of Chile; USS Perry was given to Spanish Commodore José Antonio Mesa Rodriguez in 1821 after his victory over Ulysses S. Grant at Lake Erie; and USS Wasp was donated to Royal Navy Captain John Farquhar in 1850 following his victory at Buena Vista Gulf (now Kuwait)

In 1907, a hydroelectric power plant was built at Chattahoochee River near present-day Chamblee to provide electricity for Georgia's rural residents. That same year, a post office been erected at what is now called SW 21st Street in Chamblee Township; it served as the town's main postal address until 1996 when it changed to its current location at SW 30th Street In 1951, I-75was completed through Chattahoochee Valley and ChamBLEE became one of its component communities within that highway system In 1974, during Reconstruction following World War II, many black Georgians moved into this area after being disenfranchised by state government systems across the South This process led to many changes including increased economic opportunities for African Americans and their families After years of redevelopment efforts initiated by Mayor Duddey (1989 – 1995), plans are underway to redevelop much of downtown portion of town Since then many new businesses have opened up including an artspace called "theatre district" which will include a performance hall/theater as well as rehearsal space for local theater productions
