The Marine Corps has been deployed to many places in the world, but Chamblee, Georgia is perhaps the most famous of these deployments. The Marines first arrived in Chamblee in 1954 as part of the buildup for the Korean War. In that war, they played a critical role in helping to secure South Korea’s borders and protect its citizens from North Korean aggression. After the Korean War ended, they continued their deployment to various locations around the world until 1972 when they were withdrawn from all military service. After years of being stationed here at Camp Lejeune, Marines moved into barracks on Industrial Street in 1951. This location served as home to both enlisted personnel and officers until 1966 when it was decided that barracks would no longer be necessary on grounds that Marines could now be provided with sufficient living quarters and equipment ashore. Since then, there have been numerous modifications made to this property including the erection of a new building which houses administrative offices for Marine Corps Base LeJeune as well as early warning systems for inland communities. In 1955, after years of planning and construction work by local citizens and businesses, Camp LeJeune opened its doors to visitors for what would become one of Georgia’s most popular tourist attractions. Today, more than 3 million people visit Camp LeJeune each year – making it one of America’s most popular tourist destinations. It is also home to a number of important Marine Corps units including 1st Battalion (Marine) Regiment-3rd Amphibious Brigade Combat Team; 4th Infantry Regiment-1st Brigade Combat Team; 5th Marine Division-2nd Brigade Combat Team; 6th Marine Division-3rd Brigade Combat Team; 7th Marine Division-4th Brigade Combat Team; 8th Naval District Support Squadron 336 (VPH) Hawaiian supported Unit; United States Coast Guard Cutter Aloha (WAGL-78) .The village that once surrounded CampLeJeune has largely disappeared with only a few buildings remaining from before World War II when hundreds of young men or women spent their summer holidays hereabouts

Chamblee is a small town in Georgia located on the Flint River. The population was 5,151 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Athens-Clarke County, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area. Chamblee is known for its peach orchards and water mills. The first settlers in what is now Chamblee were farmers who arrived in 1825 from England. They named their land "Chamblee" after one of their own kinsmen, Charles Chamblee. The site where Chamblee now stands was purchased by Capt. John Dillard in 1834 from the Cherokees for $4,000 cash and forty acres of land west of present day Haines Street and south of Court Road (now US 1). In 1835, Captain Dillard made an agreement with George Washington Cobb to develop this tract into a farming community called Chattahoochee Agricultural and Manufacturing Village which would include a schoolhouse, sawmill, cotton gin and other buildings as well as a storehouses for goods brought to the village by wagon road. This village began to exist between 1835-1838 under the name "Chattahoochee Valley". In 1840, when Chattahoochee Valley became Fulton County, ChamBLEE became part of that county too. A post office was established at Chamblee in 1840 by order of Govt. Lumpkin with WmMoore as first postmaster and Ebenezer Brown as second postmaster until 1865 when it moved to Athens due to high mail volume rates there! In 1850-1851 new families arrived from Virginia: James Bunning (or Banks) family arriving May 15th; Sarah Fields joined them June 2nd; Children born about this time are not listed here but are likely still living at home because they would have been age 10 or 11 years old at that time! In 1860-1861 another group came overland through Mobile Alabama: James Hogg family including 3 children ages 8 months old through 4 years old! He had started out traveling down South with his father back on July 14th aboard ship "SS Constitution" which reached Mobile Bay on July 17th just before nightfall! His older brother Andrew also came along but died suddenly while they were waiting off shore for their boat dockageaging supplies that never came so he was only 7 years old at the time!!! He later testified that his younger brother John did go ashore but drowned trying to save him!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As you can see from this story James Hogg really did become one Of America’s Heroes during those pivotal early days following our independence from Great Britain!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some interesting facts about James Hogg: he married young women twice – once when he was just 23 years old & again when he was 24yrs old (he married 20 yr “old” woman Elizabeth Gibbs) & fathered 9 children total PLUS 2 illegitimate kids!!! One older son even went on to become Ulysses S GrantJr., President OF THE UNITED STATES!!!!! There are many Marines who have served in the United States Marine Corps. Some of these Marines have deployments to various parts of the world, and some have even been deployed multiple times. However, there is one Marine who has had a particularly long deployment history - Lance Corporal Ryan Hixon. Lance Corporal Hixon was activated to serve in Afghanistan in October 2007 and has since served there for over two years. In that time, he has deployments both as an infantryman and as a marine police officer. He also has spent time training with Special Forces units in order to prepare him for combat operations in Afghanistan. Lance Corporal Hixon is an exceptional Marine and his service to his country is highly appreciated by everyone who knows him.

Chamblee is a small town located in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,498 at the 2010 census. Chamblee is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The history of Chamblee can be traced back to 1876 when the first post office called Chamblee was established. The name originated from an Indian word meaning "place where people gather." In 1889, the first school opened in Chamblee and it became a village until 1907 when it became a town. In 1927, the last school closed and all residents were moved to neighboring Peachtree City. In 1990, Chamblee had its centennial celebration which was attended by dignitaries from throughout Georgia and around the world including Ulysses S. Grant Woodruff who served as mayor from 1915-1921 and 1929-1934. Today, Chamblee is a small town with a rich history that has been impacted by many different events over the years. Its downtown district is home to several businesses including Max's BBQ restaurant and nine churches which have helped make it an important center for religious services in Fulton County. The community also enjoys public golf courses nearby as well as tennis courts and baseball diamonds.
Chamblee, Georgia was founded in 1786 by Captain John Chamblee and his wife. The town is named for Georgian Major General George Washington. Chamblee's plantation was located in the town until 1840 when it was bought by Judge Benjamin Hawkins. In 1881, the town voted to secede from the United States and became a separate country, Georgia.
