There has been an army dispatched gift history in Chamblee, Georgia for as long as there have been people living in this area. The first troops to set foot in the area were the British Army in 1795. They burned down a trading post andsettled here by building a fortification called Fort Gottfried. It was abandoned after just a few years and was never used again. The American Revolution started in 1775 and soon Troops from all over the country had arrived to help fight for liberty. One of the most famous soldiers from this time period was General George Washington who fought at Yorktown. After the war ended, many of these soldiers moved on to different places but some stayed to live and raise families here. This community came together to give back to their military veterans with various giveaways such as clothing, food, weapons, etc. over time. One of the most memorable gifts given here was a cannon which eventually became known as “The Cannon That WentRound” because it toured around town adding sound everytime it fired! This cannon is still used today and is part of the Chamblee Museum collection. There are also several other cannons that are part of this museum including one that is now on display inside the new Chamblee courthouse! Throughout all of these years, the community has always tried its best to be supportive of its military brethren - even giving them free lodging when they needed it or hosting local events like charity golf tournaments or bake sales to help out selected units or individual Soldiers/Airmen (or any other type of giveaway). Today, there are still numerous occasions where members from our unit come through town for support purposes either during deployments or just generally whenever we need them!

Chamblee is a town in Douglas County, Georgia, United States. The population was 3,859 at the 2010 census. Chamblee is part of the Athens Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name of the town comes from a Cherokee word meaning "to gather sticks together." In 1802, the town was founded by Capt. John Chamblee and his family on land that he had acquired from Chief Justice Cobb. The first store in Chamblee opened in 1804. Chamblee was incorporated as a village in 1855 and then as a town in 1887. It has been named for Captain John Chamblee since 1902 when it became part of the Athens-Clarke County metropolitan area. The present day downtown area of Chamblee was built around an old cotton gin and distillery that were used to produce alcohol for local consumption until 1907 when prohibition took effect in America. The first post office in Chamblee was established on July 1, 1827, with Aiken as its second postmaster. When Busbyville Post Office opened on November 17th, 1830 (the same date as Aiken), it served both villages along with their respective hamlets until it closed on December 5th due to lack of customers/mail traffic between them during those days beforeTelephone service arrived here shortly afterwards! In 1865 David Cooke started up a small grocery store near where US Highway 231 crosses over into Douglas County just east of present day Dougherty Road which would continue to be run by him until 2003 when he passed away suddenly leaving his wife & two young children behind with no one to take over running the business! His son Brad continued operations for about 2 years before sold it off to another family who ran it until they also passed away leaving behind another little girl who runs this store now!! What an amazing story full of great memories !!

The town was named after Colonel James Chalmers, who served in the Georgia militia during the War for Independence. Chamblee was a small community until cotton farming began to take hold and it grew rapidly. In 1870, Chamblee had a population of about 100 residents and became an important stop on the Savannah-to-Atlanta transportation route.During World War II, Chamblee played an important role as a bomber target site near Duluth, Minnesota.
