On February 15th, 1943, the squadron relocated to Cahaba Field in Decatur County and continued its combat mission against Japan. On July 26th, 1944, the 4th Fighter Squadron migrated from Cahaba Field to Stewart Air Force Base in Savannah. At Stewart AFB, the squadron was redesignated as the 77th Fighter Squadron and flew fighters into battle against Nazi Germany and Italy. Inactivated on September 2nd 1945 at Stewart AFB after World War II ended. The 77th Fighter Squadron activated on October 1st 1945 at Drew Air Force Base (Ft Worth) Texas flying P-47 Thunderbolts. The unit was equipped with Lockheed P-38L/40s assigned to VIII Bomber Command which became operational during mid-December 1945 when hostilities Ended hostilities between Japan and America following atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by United States forces

Cedartown, Georgia is a small town in metro Atlanta that is located on the border of Fulton County and Gwinnett County. The population was 8,819 as of the 2010 census. Cedartown is one of three communities in the city of Atlanta that are considered "neighborhoods." The other two are Midtown and Atlantica Park. The history of Cedartown can be traced back to 1892 when the first settlers arrived in what is now Cedartown from Tennessee. In 1957, Cedartown became an annex to Atlanta and lost its own police department. That same year, it annexed part of Gwinnett County which made it one of the few towns in metro Atlanta with both county and municipal services. As time went on, Cedartown began to prosper thanks to its location close to Interstate 285 and MARTA commuter rail lines as well as its status as a bedroom community for Atlantica Park residents. However, recent years have seen some decline in population due todescription changes for infill developments around downtown Athens - including new high-rise buildings - as well as declines in business activity overall due primarily to weak economic conditions throughout central Georgia .

Wilson in 1811 as a mill town on the Chattahoochee River. The first post office was established in 1816 and the first store opened in 1818. The town became an incorporated municipality in 1906. The community of Cedartown was laid out by General James H. Wilson on December 20, 1811 from land he acquired from the Creek Nation south of present-day Cedartown proper. According to legend, General Wilson named the settlement for Captain John Cadart (a Revolutionary War veteran who died at sea), who had been his aide-de-camp and friend during that war. Cadartstown is said to be located near where he died when his ship ran into difficulty off shore while returning home from an important military campaign against Spanish forces at Pensacola Harbor on October 13, 1813
Cedartown was founded in 1785 by General James Ogle, a Creek Indian leader. The town prospered until the American Revolution hit Georgia in 1775. In response to the rebellion, General Ogle and his men burned down most of Cedartown. This event helped solidify the town's independence from Georgia government. After the Revolution, Cedartown grew rapidly as a center for trade and commerce. By 1810, it had become a city with over 100 residents. during the late 19th century, Cedartown experienced rapid growth as an agricultural center and became a major transportation hub for Atlanta. However, throughout much of the 20th century its economic fortunes waned because of decreased demand for farm products and increased demand for manufactured goods from outside of Georgia.
